Bologna and Juventus’ difficult relationship could scupper Diamanti deal
Bologna have admitted that there are issues between them and Juventus which are impeding progress on any talks regarding Alessandro Diamanti.
The midfielder has caught the interest of the Bianconeri as well as Inter, but Bologna’s general director has stated that they’re not too inclined to sell him easily.
“We did receive a formal request for Diamanti on January 31, but Juventus have never actually called us directly”, general director Roberto Zanzi stated to Sky Sport Italia.
“They probably chose to contact his agent directly, but never bothered to try negotiations with us because they felt it would be difficult.
“So, as things are, I think there is a very likely chance that Diamanti will be staying here at Bologna.”
Despite having several players in co-ownership deals with Juventus, the working relationship between the two clubs has become strained as of late, with Zanzi offering opinions as to why.
“Although we feel we’ve done a good job in working with their players, they don’t see it that way and that is perhaps a cause of friction.
“And one of the reasons is that we opted to use Alberto Gilardino as a center-forward as opposed to Manolo Gabbiadini, but he’s adapted well to his new position, which shows his immense talent.
“[In any case], for the future, we will have evaluate things, and if they’re not happy, then we will make other considerations.”
