Re: Official: Higuain joins Napoli
Hah now its Madrid fault that Arsenal,Juventus all refused to pay 30 mill earlier and now that if we sell Higuain, all the targets like Cavani,Jovetic etv have moved clubs, who are we going to sign? seriously Madrid has every right to up their asking value given that we can not replace him at all now..
All the blame should be on Wenger and those stingy clubs who refused to pay 30 mill earlier and now crying about Madrid upping their asking value.

Re: Official: Higuain joins Napoli
Higuain won't create a pass... but if the pass is there, he'll hit it. It just depends what you're looking for out of your CF. If you want a guy who will hammer goals if given good service, Higuain is your guy. If you're looking for a CF that will open up space for himself to goal, he's not.
Arsenal and Juve were very good situations for him. I don't know about Napoli yet, although that's where he's going it looks like.
I hope Benitez knows how to use him properly. If he does, i guarantee you Higuain will score 25-35 goals next year.

Re: Official: Higuain joins Napoli
Annoying thing (for me) is that Higuain is Arsenal's 3rd choice at the moment, so it's not Arsenal being stingy it's Arsenal being stupid.
We're looking at Luis Suarez and Wayne Rooney, two unrealistic targets while ignoring a top striker and hardworker like Higuain who is willing to join us and is not a twat or a bitey racist.
I'm sure we'll be ready to pay even 50m in a month when it's clear we aren't getting the other two targets... but it'll probably be too late by then, Higuain will be at another club or he'll be staying while Gazidis and Wenger will be on their desk masturbating with no top striker available anymore

So... Do people still think Higuain is going to Arsenal? At the moment, it seems like Arsenal are chasing striker like an 18 year-old boy chases skirts.

Nope. Our interest dropped when Madrid increased his price for the 3rd time. Highly doubt we will get him now.

He would still cost less than Suarez, and he may even cost less than Rooney...
Edit: Watch him end up at Spurs on Deadline Day.

I'd love to see him at Napoli, he'll show Juve fans what they missed out on. Rafa's a great coach as well obviously, I think he'd maximize his potential

Re: Official: Higuain joins Napoli
For 37Million we didn't miss out on anything
Would I have liked to see him at Juve? Yeah you bet
Would I want Juve to spend most of the summer funds on one man in an attempt to do better in Europe, when that man has been terrible in the CL to date? No.
Our issue isn't getting goals in Serie A, it was getting an upgrade to compete in the CL, sure he might possibly win the capocannoniere, but 37Million for a CL flop is way too steep especially since we were buying with the CL in mind.

Re: Official: Higuain joins Napoli
Llorente and Tevez are CL gods though amirite
Higuain may not have a good record in the CL but has has a lot of experience in it and has not been as bad as his numbers may suggest (he's been crucial to madrids campaign, even when not scoring, he has had his bad moments and good moments)
Juve will get what they pay for, Napoli the same

Re: Official: Higuain joins Napoli
Some Juve and Arsenal fans are just acting ridiculous right now
When will you realize that the 40 mil asking price is indeed reasonable... becouse some clubs are willing to pay the price? Flo upped the price becouse situations changed, Falcao and Cavani got sold, which meant Napoli got money, were in need of a striker, and Higuain was the only one left.
And the arguments against his price When will people stop using the CL flop argument HE WON'T BE A CL FLOP FOR THE REST OF HIS CAREER, it's a mental thing. Not becouse of lack of talent. You're not only paying for his current ability but also for his future. Higuain is still young and can improve alot in a few years.
All in, 30 or 40 mil aren't as crazy as some of you make it, and Flo isn't a douche for upping the price, it's just business 101. The price is as high as the demand for it is

Re: Official: Higuain joins Napoli
I agree he will definitely do better in the CL in terms of goals in the future, in another team. However much talent he may have been surrounded by at Madrid I think a change of scenery would be very good for him, he has been asked to do an unusual job for a striker in madrid
also what other striker are you going to buy that is as good as Higuain for less than 30-40m?

Re: Official: Higuain joins Napoli
The pressure in Madrid is different than any other club. There is little doubt in my mind that the minute he moves to another club he will become a better striker. There are so much bullshit I've read so far in this thread that just causes me to cringe so bad. To begin with, Higuain isn't just a poacher, I don't know why people still call him that. His link up play isn't THAT bad and he can roam to the wings and do some wingplay.
On top of that, Higuain is a proven +30 goals striker. He already has shown he can carry you in the league (did it for us before Ronaldo). Without the unbearable pressure he is put on in Madrid, he will be unchained and be considered just as good as Cavani, Falcao and those other strikers imo. (just my opinion though, I'm aware alot won't agree)

Re: Official: Higuain joins Napoli
Llorente is unproven, however we don't know how good he'll be in the CL
Cavani on his CL debut campaign scored more goals than Higuain has in 48 CL apps. He was unproven in the CL too.
So yeah up until now he is a CL flop, and you can't dismiss that as if it doesn't matter.
Tev has recorded better numbers in the CL than Higuain anyway.
He has mental problems coping with the CL? Oh forgive me for seeing this as a bad thing.

Not true he has 6 goals in 30 something games...... Higuain has 8 in 40 something games.
But i'm splitting hairs anyway from a numbers point of view both are meh.

I dont see them spending all of that.
They'll be changing to a new system altogether.I dont expect to see instant results from them and besides half their team looks quite mediocre i might add.

Re: Official: Higuain joins Napoli
from what I seen Tev has just under 30 apps, Higuain has 48
30 of which were from the start.
Besides, this isn't a Higuain Vs Tev debate anyway
This is whether or not I believe Higuain for nearly 40Million would have been a good purchase for Juve
And playing for RM with a CL goal average of 1 every 285 minutes (Transfermarkt) is abysmal
So no, I don't think that would be a wise decision at all
The only ones defending Higuain are the odd Madrid fan who support him
and an Argentinian NT fan, where Higuain does perform well. So the bias is obvious.
But like I've said before, when talking about players I hold Club performances in a much higher regard than NT performances
EDIT: My mistake, he's played just over 30 CL games. With about 2 less goals and a couple more assists than Higuain in 38 apps.

Re: Official: Higuain joins Napoli
Higuains last 3 CL where he reached semifinals experience > Llorente's zero experience and Tevez's experience who hasn't gotten out of the group stage since 2009
the logic that juve were buying a striker for the CL doesnt check out
higuain wouldve been the better player to buy over tevez. if you dont want to spend the extra 20-30m than you will get what you pay for...
...and thats all i have to say about that

Re: Official: Higuain joins Napoli
This is about winning trophies... not about counting your pennies at the end. That why Bayern paid what it paid for Martinez last year. Barca paid 57 mil for Neymar. Is he worth 57 mil? every penny if they take the trophy. Madrid is looking to pay 100 mil for Bale and if it bring La Decima, it's very well spent. You also have PSG paying 63 for Cavani because they wanted an elite scorer other than Ibra because that's what got them into trouble last year: Ibra-dependence.
Higuain has benched Aguero let alone Tevez on NT. Which player do you think gives you a better chance of winning trophies? Easy choice for me.
