add his domestic failure, to the fact that he lost to FREAKING NEWCASTLE !! at Europa League.

Surprised...guess it just goes to show football world is so big u cant be good at everything and win everything. His best record obviously in the international teams and in Netherlands, probably club mgmt in other countries not the same thing.

Agreed with you Sep. One of the most overrated managers of the generation without a doubt. Only excels in team mentality managing as aside from that he is a journeyman who doesn't stay in teams because he knows he will build little to boast about.

It's really not easy to get CL spots in Russia with CSKA and Zenit always dominating the top 2 spots.

Hiddink used to be really good but he's gotten old and like many other his tactics are outdated. Won PSV their only ever European Cup You really can't say he was always a fraud.

Also Anzhi are pretty shite. Having a past it Eto'o, Headless chicken Lass, William-I-only-care-about-money, Yuri-not a defender-Zhirkov, and 6'7-can't head-or-hold-the-ball-loves-to-play-winger-Lacine-Traore doesn't make their whole team good. They have no midfield whatsoever. In fact, Guus deploys Eto'o as a CM for many matches because they no creativity from there.

Seems like Anzhi still needs a long of strengthening then, I mean Hiddick trying to do a Forlan? If they are that rich, should be able to buy some more players this summer.

And interesting u said like many other old managers, their tactics get outdated? Surely if hes a top manager he woul dkeep up to date and keep evolving though?

let it be clear i dont exactly rate hiddink, but the point i wanted to make is that money doesnt equal success.

and the players they did buy arent exactly quality, and not nearly enough considering how much zenit invested.

Took Australia to the world cup round off 16 in '06 and only lost to eventual champions Italy because of a dodgy penalty decision right at the end of the game. Hiddink

He doesn't play in midfield. He plays behind Lacina.

Not really a CM, more of an AM who drops deeper than Lass to pick up the ball and create something.

Is it just me or is it strange that after getting some MAJOR help from the refs in '02, ironically his Aussie side got the worst calls of the tourney in 06 (wrongly allwd goal to Japan, Poll giving simunic 3 yellows, grosso dive penalty)???
