Better form and better player are two different things. I would agree that Piggy is in better form but Xavi is the better player (of course, in my own wonderful opinion).

Saying Xavi is better than Schweinsteiget is one thing. Saying Xavi at 60% is better than Schweinsteiger is downright insulting. Schweinsteiger has been the most in form midfielder in the world this season and has been better than Xavi this season, therefore is better.

Certain players can be in better form than other players, but that doesn't necessarily have to mean they're better.

I agree with that. But when player A is in better form than player B for the whole season, then that means player was better in that season. And Schweinsteiger has been better for this whole season. Form = class when its sustained for a long period of time, and Schweinsteiger has done that. And you cant judge someones current ability on things if the past, otherwise Ronaldinho is still one of, if not the best player in the world.

I think both players performances from every game would have to be looked at to see which player has been better this season. It's hard to remember how a player performed in every game this season.

Your mf lost. Martinez broke up your rhythm and Basti shifted the ball quicker than xavi. Xavi did absolutely nothing yesterday. Bayern were superior at everything yesterday.

Tbh Barcas midfield didn't even look dangerous, bayern had them under control

Strangely I’m with Alex on this.
I don’t have so many issues with our midfield rather than the collective team appearance.
And if someone is to blame for the poor game it was the wings overall (full backs and fwds) and of course our CBs. A 3 man midfield can only get you so far when everybody else is barely playing. They didn't have anything to work with from the attacking line and the backline never provided any security
As for Bayern, Martinez was more impressive than Schweini for me

Imo midfield battle is a bit overrated as it's very hard to see this objectively anyway and not every tactic has the same intention on what to do with their midfield. There is no such thing as one midfield dominating the other, when the team being dominant it has to do with the whole team not only the midfield.
Midfield battle has been abused too many times to single out certain midfielders over another. Ones with overall team performance advantage get too much credit more than what they actually deserve and the others get too much sticks.
Anyway, when great team performance defeats poor team performance, imo it's never appropriate to put much credit or blame on individual from respective team. One player doesn't make that happen. Such singling-out only appropriate when player goes against how their team performing.
