Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
So to compensate for people underestimating Juve you overrate them? lol
For the record I think Juventus are a great team but if they want to prove themselves as the best at anything they'll have to win games like these.

Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
Maybe Juve haven't played in CL for a bit... but they have been dominant in Serie A for 2 years now and have been class in CL so far. Not to mention 3/4 of the defense and 2/3 of the midfield were starters for Italy NT that went to the Euro final.
They've proven plenty.
Buffon, Lichsteiner, Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini, Pirlo, Vidal, Marchisio..... who's 8 thru the midfield is better than that? Barca's defense and keeper aren't anywhere as good.

Like I said, great team. Just to be best requires that bit more.

Who's better through the midfield. That's all i'm saying. Not the best team of course because the forwards are meh. But if you had to pick an area you would rather have some faults in, it would be the attack imo. It's much easier to consistently control things with greatness through the midfield.
Be specific.... who's better than the group of Buffon, Lichsteiner, Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini, Pirlo, Vidal, Marchisio through the midfield.

Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
Juventus boss Antonio Conte has called his side's Champions League quarter-final with Bayern Munich 'a challenging fixture'.
The Bianconeri were drawn with the Bundesliga leaders in the last eight of the competition.
And the 43-year-old has claimed that his men will face a tough proposition in Jupp Heynckes' side.
“We are aware that the quarter-finals will present us with a challenging fixture,” he told the club's official website.
“After Chelsea, now we're playing last year's other finalist.
“They are one of the most consistent sides in Europe and will have the advantage of their great experience accumulated over the years.
“The game will certainly be a stimulating affair and we'll experience it with maximum calmness, concentration and joy.
“We're chasing a dream and want to enjoy this experience all the way until the end.”

When both teams start to talk up the opposition, you just know they both expect to win.

Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
No three defenders in Europe complement each other better than the Juventus' back three. Giorgio Chiellini has the aerial prowess and rugged toughness, Andrea Barzagli is elegant and is great at reading the game, Leonardo Bonucci provides the vision and is the best ball playing central defender in Italy.
Juventus has not been scored on in 490 minutes in the Champions League. Bayern will face their biggest test in penetrating this defense

Football has 11 players but I'll go along for sake of discussion
Here would be Bayern's 8:
Neuer, Lahm, Badstuber, Dante, Alaba, Martinez, Schweinsteiger, Kroos.
That ain't bad at all.
Barca:
Valdez, Alves, Pique, [Mascherano/Puyol], Alba, Busquests, Xavi, Iniesta.
Also quite good but their D can be pretty bad at times.
Madrid:
[Casillas/Lopez], Arbeloa, Varane, [Ramos/Pepe], [Coentrao/Marcelo], Khedira, Alonso, [Di Maria/Modric]
Definitely the most flexible depending on what Madrid need although they are one dimensional. Also perhaps have something to prove.
Dortmund:
Weidenfeller, Piszceck, Hummels, Subotic, Schmelzer, Gundogan, Kehl, Goetze
Very dynamic and definitely not out of their league in this comp.
PSG:
Sirigu, Maxwell, Sakho, Thiago Silva, Jallet, Verratti, Matuidi, Pastore.
Very solid but perhaps the FBs are lacking.

ALaba, Badstuber, Piggy, Martinez and Dante compare that to Chiellini, Bonucci, Barzagli, Vidal and Pirlo That's the post-for-post comparison.
Kroos, Neuer and Lahm are the only ones that compare to Marchisio, Buffon and Lichsteiner.

Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
Juventus - a difficult draw!
Probably the best italian team right now!
The group stands really well defensively, they receive few goals. But the Marios, Franck, Arjen or me will also hopefully find a hole or two :-)
I would much rather have had the second leg at München, but it is after all not a dream concert!
We're excited about it!

Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
I don't get this only 8 players comparison anyway. The front three are just as important to any team and that is something Bayern can say they have over Juve.
As a defender I'd rather deal with Matri, Vucinic and Quagliarella than Ribery, Muller and Mandzukic.

Have you actually watched Bayern this season? With Dante? And a non-injured Piggy?

Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
I'm happy not everybody underrates Juve.
The general consensus seems to be that due to our lack of a big name in attack we don't have any star players except Buffon.
It just goes to show how attack minded and bias towards strikers people are in this day and age.
The fact is, and I don't care how bias I sound is that Buffon, Chiellini, Barzagli, Pirlo, Vidal and Marchisio are/are currently playing at a World Class level.
But you don't hear about them, and when you do it's some idiot pundit who thinks they're on a level with spurs players.

What? You still got the most creative bully in Vidal, a magnificent Pirlo, and a rock-solid defence, I don't think anybody is denying that.
I just think that Piggy and Martinez aren't anny worse than Vidal and Pirlo.
Well okay, I think they're a bit worse because Martinez isn't at that level yet. But Kroos is what will tip the scales IMHO.
Still, this will be the biggest test either team's midfield will have faced this season.
But people making a combined XI without Schweinsteiger is f*cking delusional.

No no Viva not you
Talking about people who refuse to call our players WC, and who put all of our success down to being "Balanced" In other words we have nothing special.
I agree with a fair few of your points.

Where would you put Schweinsteiger ? He's by no way better than Pirlo, and he can't do what Marchisio and Vidal do.

If we end up getting knocked out those same people would act like they've been proven right or something so its best to ignore them.
Oh and btw ,if Vidal or Marchisio pick up another yellow and end up getting suspended ,i can say with a confidence that Pogba can fill in for either of the two.We have a GOAT sub waiting in the wings.

I still have my doubts about the 3-5-2 formation (although in defensive transition it's 5-3-2 anyway) but other than that I backed Italy to make it far even before the Euros had started just because of the Juventus core. It's only Premier League pundits that are clueless tbh. Mourinho publicly stated that he doesn't want to face Juventus and just yesterday I read that the only team the Barcelona players wanted to avoid was Juventus as well.
The lack of a world class goalscorer isn't even much of a problem. Makes the team much more unpredictable with goals coming from everywhere. The Spanish national team is the same.

I agree with a lot of that too, and see doubting a formation or tactics is one thing, but the sheer ignorance that accompanies opinions about Juventus players from some people is plain laughable.
