Re: Transfer Rumours
A program on Catalan TV station TV surprised everyone today on its edition of Esport Club by announcing that Catalan giants FC Barcelona inquired about Real Madrid’s central defender Rafael Varane.
According to information, Barcelona would have paid the buyout clause of the player but it turns out that it was the young French player himself who was opposed to a change of scenery.
The Catalan TV channel explained on their program the response of the player and an explanation of his refusal to talk to Barcelona over any possible move away from the Santiago Bernabéu. He said that Real Madrid has put a lot of faith in him and now he wants to pay back the club’s confidence shown to him.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Well turns out I wasn't imagining transfer sagas.
Surprising good job from our board of incompetents. Trying is all I ask, if Varane doesn't want to join us we can't get him. But it was likelier than Thiago Silva.

I wish he would've used this as a chance to get a better contract.

Anyway, that news (if true), confirms that Varane doesn't have a 200 milion release clause.

Re: Transfer Rumours
no that news is fake and he does have a 200 millions clause. I trust information coming from L'Equipe about french players a 100x times more than catalan TV station lol. bottom line is the same tho, you cant have him believe what you willfree_cat wrote:Mr Nick09 wrote:cheer up guys, we have Albiol in his prime, surely better than bartra

Re: Transfer Rumours
I hope that this is not true because if it is then it gives Madrid license to freely go after Thiago.

Come on, don't be so naive. They already had that license.
They tried to sign Puyol in 2002 and Iniesta in 2006, and will keep on trying when they see a good opportunity. They are the evil.

See what you are saying may be true but it's several years back. In recent times both sides have been following a sort of unwritten non-aggression pact. I have read several statements by Perez that Madrid won't try to pay the release clause of Thiago but they are interested in him if Barca wants to sell and will thus go for him only after taking Barca's permission. As I said before one violation of this from either side will likely open a Pandora's box and the blame for that will fall on the one who does it first. Hence I don't want us to be the one who starts this chaos.

There has never been a pact between Barça and Madrid. Florentino bought Figo and tried to buy Puyol. Palacios, a Madrid presidential candidate, had an agreement with Iniesta's father to pay his release clause if he won the 2006 elections that Calderon won. An so on.
If they want to sign Thiago and Thiago wants to go, they'll sign him. The pandora box never closed, it's just that it's not that easy and likely that a players move from one team to another if they want him to stay, and also, not many players want to move to the arch-rival.

Re: Transfer Rumours
I see. Some of what you say makes sense. Yet the two camps have publicly said in the last few years how they won't try to touch each other's players. I prefer that we don't become the first to do otherwise and then it gets splashed all over the media. Anyway both camps have confirmed in the media that the reports about Varane being tapped by Barca are totally false.
Re: Transfer Rumours
Daniel Agger has been linked with us, rated around 15 million. Don't mind if we sign him even if he does cost a bit more. Really like him even though people reckon he's overrated...

Re: Transfer Rumours
Why are we linked to Torres for a 17m buy, if this is true my god i have given up all hope on our staff.
I understand why he could be useful but.. wtf are our priorities stop looking for forwards we need DEFENDERS

Yeah, we desperately need more forwards who can't score.

Re: Transfer Rumours
100% sure it's just a crap rumor. The board has outlined that we need a forward, defender, and goalkeeper. The forward has been taken care of already so I doubt anyone is looking for a forward anymore at this point unless two of Villa, Pedro, and Alexis are sold, and I'm betting only Villa will be sold.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Twitter is right now saying our two main targets are Mathieu and Torres. Too shameful and painful for any more words except that Alessio Secco would have been proud of such high quality work.
Re: Transfer Rumours
Thiago Silva is out of the equation now, as his salary is astronomical, not to mention PSG are not willing to sell.
The only thing that can prove hopeful to Barcelona fans, ironically, is that if Ancelotti joins Madrid, Thiago Silva might hand in a transfer request and Barcelona will be ready to pounce.
I said ironically, because Ancelotti joining Madrid should not mean good news for Barcelona fans. He's a class coach.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Doubtful.
Mathieu just signed a new contract not too long ago right? So we'll have to pay even more for a player who tbh isn't Barca quality as far as I'm concerned (at least, not the class of player that we are looking for in a CB).
Torres is just shit and where would he play? He won't (or shouldn't) play on the wings and with the likes of Messi, Neymar, Sanchez, Pedro, and Tello all vying for time (Messi and Neymar likely to have starting spots nailed down most likely unless Neymar flops) then he wouldn't even get time on the wings anyway. Not to mention our ridiculous rotation policy which would mean even less time for Torres unless somehow he started on the RW.
Not to mention his wages and the potential, somewhat heavy, transfer fee that would also come with him.
Both those rumors are shite. Twitter isn't the most reliable source in the world.
