Yes that rumor about Bartra going on loan is becoming pretty strong. So with Abidal sure to leave and then this I suppose we need to buy at least two center backs.

But didn't you remember that Song, Adriano and Busquests are all very solid replacements?

I'm just going to put it out there that signing/not signing defenders has nothing to do with the board. Its the technical team.

The board has made plenty of mistakes, but this isn't really their problem. Though they could just force a signing on the coaches.

I'm sure we are going to sign somebody... I'm just not convinced by ANY of the guys mentioned. They all have qualities, but are still risky and unsatisfactory.

We need to change our tactics, thats where the solution lies.

Though of course we need to make sure we have the right players in the right positions for most of the season... ie. sufficient depth and faith.

Varane it's only 30 milion and it's better than anyone else.

From the clubs point of view, it just won't happen. We won't consider him at all or any Madrid player. I like the player and he would definately be a good signing but it just won't happen...

Why wouldn't we consider any Madrid player? that's stupid.

Actually, the issue is also that Madrid wouldn't want to let him go.

Of course we can offer him more, but then his agent will just tell Madrid to offer more and try to get the best contract for his agent. It becomes a bidding war and we wouldn't win the bidding war.

If same contract is offered, he'll accept Madrid's because he's already there and doing well. He's lined up a stellar career. Why would he want to leave?

Once we do that we will open a Pandora's box. We will lose count of how many players Madrid make us spend more on season after season from then on. I just read Perez's comments that he is interested in Thiago but would only approach if Barca wants to sell. You want him to forget that and approach Thiago directly offering to double his salary and give him more game time and make him a big star and what not? So is it time to let the circus begin?

I somehow think we will have the same problems next season as well. I really do not see a realistic good signing for CB. Also, if we go for Reina it will be a downgrade in any level. I kind of hate the stubbornness of our club to sign masia players.

I think there are some really good targets out here but we don't seem to be looking. Only looking at the high profile names.

And Koscielny is indeed the player you need.

If we do not sell Mascherano this season our hopes for a better defence will not be fixed as our board clearly feels Mascherano is good enough to play CB because he is definitely not going to play defensive mid anytime soon with Song in the club.

For Pete's sake before selling let us work on who we are buying for our defense and try to close out at least two deals quickly. Then we can spend time on who we can let go. The way we are going some here are rightly saying we may play with no defense next season. The latest on Twitter is that our top two targets are Hummels and Luiz, neither of whom I guess have the approval of the majority of us here.

I have one more fear. If there is any chance Tito decides to step down then he must do that very quickly. If he doesn't then he must try to see off at least one season for us. If he resigns late, say in August, almost all the coaches that we could possibly want would likely have already committed somewhere else.

I read one suggestion I forget from whom that when Tito was absent last season we should have turned to Guardiola or Rijkaard for help. Now if something like that happens next season as well the former will of course be unavailable but maybe we should turn to the latter instead of relying on Roura.

If we sell Mascherano we'd force our board to put a little more effort into our defence rather then jerk off to Neymar which wasn't even out biggest concern of the field, it's a frustrating situation, and currently although not a favorite I think anyone is an upgrade from Mascherano and Adriano on CB.

I believe we also need a new assistant coach, Roura should go back to his job of managing videos of opposition and we should get a more capable assistant just incase the same situation happens with Tito.

This upcoming season kind of worries me.

Also, REALLY stupid move by Barca if they just let Valdes walk for free or wait until the winter to sell him when his value would be even lower. Not only that then we would have to scramble to get a new keeper then to quickly adapt to our team. If he decided to leave then good for him, but whats best for the club is whats best for the club

Whats best for the club is Valdes staying because he's the best GK in the world for Barca.

We should sign a GK anyway and he can groom him. The situation would be ideal. Forget the money, its worth it.
