Paris Saint-Germain v SC Bastia Pre & Post Match Analysis Thread
-Paris Saint-Germain sit top of Ligue 1, three points ahead of Olympique Lyonnais and six over Olympique de Marseille.
-The hosts have not lost a competitive fixture in more than two months.
-This season's corresponding fixture ended in a resounding 4-0 win for the capital club.
-Bastia sit in 13th place in the table, following their 0-0 draw with Evian.
-The Corsican outfit have never emerged victorious at the Parc des Princes.
-The club have the worst defensive record in the league with 47 goals conceded in 23 encounters.
-At the end of February, PSG face title rivals Marseille twice, once in the league, and once in the Coupe de France.
PSG news:
-Motta still out with a suspension.
-Verrati expected to continue his midfield partnership with Matudi and will be in great confidence after scoring Italia's only goal vs Netherlands.
-Silva still sidelined
-Becks although in the CL list is in London at the moment and will not be available for the match as Carlo also has stated that he will be fit by mid-feb.
SC Bastia news:
-Bastia coach Frederic Hantz is without midfielder Yannick Cahuzac for the trip to the capital. However, he has no other injury struggles to contend with.
-Sit in 14th place with 26 points.
Line-up I would like to see:
-----Sirigu
Jallet-Armand-Sakho-Maxwell
Menez-Verrati-Matudi-Lavezzi
----Lucas
-----Ibra
Subs: Pastore, Chantome, Gamiero
-PSG should be able to continue with their world class defence vs a recently re-surging Bastia as hopefully we will see a more attacking side of PSG as compared to the tactically interesting but relatively dull matchs from them in recent games.

Re: Paris Saint-Germain v SC Bastia Pre & Post Match Analysis Thread
Team called up: Douchez, Sirigu - Alex, Armand, Arrondel, Camara, Conte, Jallet, Maxwell, Van der Wiel - Chantôme, Matuidi, Pastore , Verratti - Gameiro, Ibrahimovic, Lavezzi, Lucas, Ménez.
Sakho excluded. Carlos says its to rest him. But even if it's for rest, you call him up and put him on the bench in case of emergency. PSG only have 2 proper CBs in Alex and Camara other than Sakho. No.... this is because of his tough words towards PSG methinks.

WTF is this line-up? No Ibra, Sakho, Jallet, Matudi
I know they need rest for CL but thats on Wednesday and PSG cannot afford to lose a well earned 3 point lead on Lyon right now.
And PASTORE IS SHAT

PSG playing with more more pace but less direction and accuracy without Ibra. Teams usually look more dynamic without him as I've seen but far from decisive. Exciting match so far.

Gamiero posted a shot after sliding in to capitalize from a wide Menez shot.

PSG lacking the vision of Ibra since Scrubtore is playing in his role who is quite frankly, playing without any balls. Rather have Chantome in that role than the Lost Llama

Half-time. PSG thoroughly dominated while also missing a great chance which hit the post by Gamiero. Bastia on the other hand weren't too dangerous but by no means looking like scrubs. Ibra looked anxious to come on after seeing such opportunity.
PSG home fans I know are demanding but for the umpteenth time this season booed the whole squad. Disgraceful bunch.

He will have to come on if PSG continue to miss chances and create less than usual. By the looks of his desire to come on along with Lavezzi, Carlo will have little choice but to do so

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeremy Menez with a quick and razor sharp fake juke to leave the Corsican CB on his knees while he cannons a shot out from 25 yards to put it past Novaes. World class goal. Menez>>>>>Ribery. Come at me Sports.
Ibra's reaction was telling. Wasn't training but nervously squatting on the sidelines watching the game while applauding in rapture after Menez' rocket followed by a clapping ovation.
@Hala. 14th. Were good in the 1st half though.

Zlatan on for Gamiero on the 65th minute.
Can't help but feel bad for the injustice'd Gamiero who worked his ass off along with some excellent shots. Certainly deserves more game time especially ahead of Pastore.
Gamiero looked disappointed. Crowd went wild as Ibra stepped on the pitch followed by chants.
Let it know that their top dog is here, and Ibra certainly knew it.

PENALTY WITH LUCAS BEING TRIPPED BY THE BASTIA CB. Ibra too take it.....
WOW! Ibra fires it past expert penalty shot stopper Landreau (who guess the right side) with a powerful left sided shot into the far corner. Impossible to save. 2-0 PSG.
Matudi on for Chantome.

Disgracefully dirty tackle Bastia's RB onto Menez. Ancelotti and Lavezzi absolutely furious after such a vicious challenge to Menez on the sidelines.
Carlo furious at Menez's lackadaisical attitude as well.
PSG with 63% of possession and completely dominating now with Ibra's confident swag on the field.

WOW! Bastia's Khazri with one of the best Freekicks of the season from 40 yards out on the left side leaving a somewhat unfocused Sirigu beaten after a spectacular curler.
After more than 900 mins and 9 Ligue 1 games, Sirigu is finally beaten. Highly unlucky there.

@Hala, agreed as he definitely made a meal out of it.
PSG score with this time from Lavezzi!
Lucas' shot from the far right couldn't be kept within the hands of Landreau as his save from Lucas' shot results in excellent instinct from Lavezzi to tap it in

Re: Paris Saint-Germain v SC Bastia Pre & Post Match Analysis Thread
PSG with a routine 3-1 win.
Bastia as a whole were compact and intelligent going for a counter from a mirrored 4-4-1-1 from them. Ultimately PSG were too good for the Corsicans even with a slightly weakened side. As a whole quite an entertaining match with PSG attacking more than usual with Lucas wide on the right, two-footed Menez on the left with Pastore and Gamiero combining before Ibra's inclusion. Defence even with the atrocious VdW remained solid along with Alex-Armand and Maxwell. Matudi's presence was missing as a whole but Chantome performed with an admirable job in protecting the PSG midfield along with Verrati.
MOTM? Jeremy Menez showing his world class close control but ultimately it has to be Marco Verrati, fresh after scoring vs Netherlands. Kept the midfield ticking, wouldn't lose the ball, made visionary passes and with the confidence of a veteran. He is back.

Sirigu trying to give this one away lol. First off, feel asleep off his line for the 1 goal and then not sure what he was trying to do on another ball and Khazri should have had his second.
Anyhow, we played a lot of B players and still won 3-1.
Mehness: Van Der Wiel, Maxwell and Pastore
OK: Lucas and Gameiro
Good: Chantome, Verrati, Ibra, Menez and Lavezzi
Gameiro missed too much. This game should have been 5-1 easily.

Gamiero just doesn't look fit enough at the moment as that is understandable with all the bench time.
Spot on in the "mehness" as VdW didn't do himself any favours with another shit performance. Maxwell was decent in attack but faulty in defence. Pastore was deplorably bad. Looks out of his depth even vs Bastia.
Lucas had a somewhat subdued performance but its encouraging to see him adapt well tactically to the Ligue 1. Didn't help that he had to combine with Pastore when drifting in.
Cannot believe Paris didn't address the fullbacks issue over the mercato. Although the reason to be positive is that Jallet is in fantastic form while Maxwell can be reliable during an important game. Valencia isn't exactly a strong team with their average manager, but they'll be up for it along with the Mestalla atmosphere spurning them on.

And there are very good fullback prospects in France: Aurier, Corchia, Digne, Umtiti, etc. Umtiti and DIgne would be tough to get... but Aurier and Corchia were easy acquisitions.

Corchia and Digne my favourite from those picks. From the little I've seen from them in Socheaux and Lille they are fantastically talented fullbacks who certainly would do better than the current bunch.
PSG need to ditch the international policy and re-start in developing young frenchmen. Having Rabiot on loan while Pastore play didn't exactly do wonders for my confidence in developing local talent.

couldn't have been lucas as he was the one who was subbed out for lavezzi
I know exactly where valencia will attack psg if they have done their homework. maxwell s wing bastia seemed to attack there altho dispossed when holding the ball for too long
as for the penalty it was slightly outside the penalty box psg alittle fprtunate with that one. lucas played really well I thought so did menez later on
