I, for one, am glad someone has the balls to shoot for goal instead of tippy tapping it around the goal line

Walcott's "selfishness" basically won us the game today

Ramsey with another class performance. 83/89 passes completed (91% accuracy) and 6 interceptions (more than any player). [ @DeanLDN22]

Diego Armando Maradona wrote:Its not one instance at all. He thinks he is some big shot striker now. When you say beating i think you mean running into

No, I mean "beating". Last couple of games he's beaten his man with ease.

You're going to have to refresh my memory about the other times he's been selfish because I really cannot recall any other major instances of selfish play.

we are not talking about him taking on players.. whenever he has a sight of goal he goes for the finish without bothering to pass to the players who are in a better position.. this has happened so frequently in many matches in the last one month.. it is like he wants to score himself more and prove that he is the goal scorer.. may be because he wants to play CF.. but he needs to be happy to lay the ball for other players especially when he is playing on the right..

Haven't really seen this in his recent games.

In any case, he's taking more shots because he's getting into goal scoring positions more. He wants to score goals and knows he can. A player who is confident in his own abilities is a good thing.

Good win. We're in round 5 is the main thing.

Stream wasn't great but my ratings from what I saw:

Szczesny 5.5 - Mistake on 1st goal but big save early on today too.
Jenkinson 6.5 - Decent display with full commitment as ever.
Mertesacker 5 - Really ponderous and caught out on 2nd goal.
Koscielny 6 - Better than Per but still dodgy (I think).
Santos N/A
Ramsey 7 - Continued good form v W.Ham with display here.
Diaby 7 - Not as good as early season form yet, but nice assist.
Ox 5.5 - Really disappointing. Needs a PL loan or run of games.
Rosicky 6 - Decent display considering time he's been out.
Podolski 6.5 - Relatively quiet (I think). Assisted Giroud's 1st though.
Giroud 8 - Main guy today. Two good goals and won corned for 3rd goal.

Walcott, Wilshere and Gibbs all had good impacts from the bench.

Jay I am talking about today when he had no where to go and shoot it straight at the goalie, Giroud was open all he had to do pass it and game over.

he is doing a great job.. this problem occurs more when he is played on the right, he makes those wide runs and tries shooting from narrow angles.. he totally ignores players like Giroud or Cazorla who are making the runs through the middle or far post who are in a better position and just needs to drag the ball back for them to tap/place the ball in the net.. he just needs to be more conscious about the players around him.. there is no doubt that his only position is RW at Arsenal.. so he will be a great player if he can provide those assists for his team mates..

Because I have seen him go round players in recent games, perhaps?

Gervais being a better dribbler than Walcott is completely irrelevant.

It was the wrong decision, but nothing to slate him over.

He looked out of touch initially.. but he improved as game progressed.. he is good defensively.. but he needs to improve his passing and interlink play and can get easily dispossessed.. his crossing is much better than Sagna.. once he get consistent gametime, he will be solid lie at the beginning of the season...

Theo has improved a lot but he still has those moments where he forgets other around him.

He wanted to win the game and I am sure if he had a goal already he would have pass it to Giroud.

That wasn't Walcott's only hopeless attempt at a tight angle goal when he had a wide open teammate. He had an identical chance against West Ham but it's not a major worry. He's clinical and confident. I'm happy. Also happy Giroud's banging them in, regardless of the opposition, it has the same effect. Confidence.

And Alex Song plays it over the top of the Everton defence for...

Oh wait..

And Abou Diaby plays it over the top of the Brighton defense for GIROUD! He reigns it in with a magnificent first touch and hammers it home with a splendid second!!! Ladies and gentlemen, Olivier Giroud has finally arrived!

Against west ham he had a couple of moments when he ignored better options and decided to put his head down and run, a couple times he actually outpaced the defender, but then what? did he set up any chances? all i remember was his final ball being intercepted or hit out for a goal kick. Against chelsea i remember him hanging onto the ball too long and running straight into cole when he had the ball.

We need a CB badly and play him with Koscielny.

Sakho? Hell even Olsson, just someone who doesn't get bullied as easily as Mertesacker or isn't a headless chicken like Vermaelen. Surely there must be a defender who fits the bill.

Speaking of which, just read on twitter that our best partnership is Vermaelen-Mertesacker who have conceded the least amount of goals playing together in oppose to Verm-Kos and Kos-mert

I think it's true

Vermaelen - Mertesacker was given a consistent run which Koscielny never had this season. He was benched for Vermaelen who makes mistake after mistake every game but 'has' to start because he's the captain.

The fact that Koscielny gets benched for Vermaelen makes me sick tbh.

Well ok perfomance, but fun to watch.. Probably would have had a shut out if we didn't start santos.. I think it is kind of a problem though when we literally cannot beat any team in any division unless we go full strength. Everyone is going to be wiped by the time the season is over.

and lol Theo to Giroud is the most common link up of assist to goal in the entire premier league if I remember correctly.. I don't think it would be fair to call theo selfish...

Was he in that instance? .. Sure, it wasn't the best decision but give the guy a break

Must admit, none of Mertesacker, Vermaelen or Koscielny fill me with confidence right now. Add to that Sagna's decline, and it's concerning. Makes the decision not to sign Yanga-Mbiwa quite baffling.

Im concerned about LB tbh more than them. We can't force Gibbs to play every game. Because if he doesn't against any team thats even semi decent its an automatic loss because of santos.
