I don't mind Carvalho in this game, I don't mind Albiol. They have similar strengths and similar weaknesses and in a deep line will cover up those weaknesses quite well. In summary - either can do their job.

Here's the problem for me. People cry about Pepe and Ramos not being in position, not "defending". The team is structurally setup for them to not be in position. Their initial job is to make their presence in midfield channels that open up when we press high. Their secondary job is to defend in the mold of an actual defender.

Alonso can't do it. It's pointless even asking him to because he just can't deal with those situations.

So the problem I foresee is something along these lines.

We'll be solid - people will occupy the right areas, they'll anticipate Barca's attacks and for the large part they'll be effective defending them. They are good defenders.

However they won't be able to force Barca into an approach they rather not take. The ball will move through the centre where Barca are comfortable playing it, runs will be made off Carvalho/Albiol and they'll get their chances. Hopefully those chances go to Alexis.

I am a Messi fanboy and I do not mind admitting it, I appreciate his work in the game.
As for my pictures lol, I wonder how many times you've looked at it and gotten butthurt over it, just exactly what makes me laugh and the same reason it is there, for people who take offense to the stupid things in life.

OT given also the last games of barca against malaga its pretty much obvious that the home ground will play less of a role in the game's outcome, let alone that madrid actually plays better at their turf tbh.
malaga actually drew at nou camp while lost by more than 2 goals at both of their home games against them
