if I understood well the thread, in this regard Wesley Sneijder deserves to be mentioned.
From missed balon d'or  2010 to Turkey League legend, and  he is not so old.

Sneijder did blow his career a bit (at least), that's true.

Nope, maybe some Utd fans regard them as Giggs prime years...others would disagree if you said they were his only prime years. Giggs when he ruined Arsenal in the FA cup, that was as good as Giggs as ever was. He was blistering then as we was previously and some years after.

Best winger in the world right now (debatable, but acceptable opinion) doesnt mean anything. Right now, leave it at that instead of jumping to the usual hyperbole and theatrics.

His injury-proneness (gone), one-footedness (better players have been just as bad), emotional outbursts (who cares really), streaks of selfishness (a real problem), balding & ugliness (totally irrelevant to me) have nothing to do with it...simply, I have seen better players with my own 2 eyes.

And you are also confusing the situation. Me saying he isnt in my personal Dutch best 11 doesnt mean he isnt great, doesnt mean I dont rate him highly, doesnt mean anything...other than again, I seen better players and enough so that if I did create this hypothetical team, he wouldnt be in it.

All the other crap, what if's, what stuff he won...not a single f given.

Adriano springs to mind as one who ruined his legacy. His fall was truly spectacular.
