Microsoft have acquired Bethesda.

People are gonna make a big deal out of this but i genuinely don't care lol.

I've never enjoyed a Bethesda RPG so that basically leaves just Doom that i play and enjoy.

Its a massive deal. They now own so many popular and acclaimed IPs. Sequel to Elder Scrolls will have Red Dead 2 levels of hype, Fallout is still highly popular, Wolfenstein 3 and Doom 3 will also be coming on the back of acclaimed predecessors. Then you have talented studios like Arkane who can make a Dishonored 3 or more new IPs like Deathloop.

Yo with Obsidian and Bethesda under the same umbrella again maybe we'll see another Obsidian Fallout game. Maybe those New Orleans concept art is gonna come into fruition after all these years after all.

Who Xbox? I already said i care way more about the Obsidian purchase than i do about this.

Because they don't have a recent history of making underwhelming games that people are sweeping under the rug now because it suits them.

Don't remember many criticising Doom, Dishonored, Wolfenstein and Prey. I played and loved all of them. Personally didn't enjoy the new Fallout/Elder Scrolls games but they sold like hot cakes and will continue to do so.

Doom is the only one which has released since Fallout 4 to quality acclaim and the only one which deserves to be left out of this conversation.

You may choose to forget all the criticism Bethesda has come under in the last 5 years but i won't.

Wolfenstein 2 and Dishonored 2 have similar ratings to Doom Eternal. Like maybe a two point difference in average.

I've never even played any of these games, and the fact I know all these properties is really incredibly valuable. It's so hard to get recognisable IP and they bought a lot of it here, properties who have a lot of hardcore fans.

Fallout and ES6 will definitely be on PS5. Timed exclusive at worst.

Most likely Bethesda will be making some new IPs for them or some of the smaller games like Dishonoured or Doom or Wolfenstein will be exclusive.

The criticism has been for Fallout 76 which was an utter disaster and the shameless milking of Skyrim instead of a new Elder Scrolls game this gen. FO76 was a failed experiment and they'll stay away from online after that. There is nothing to suggest they have become subpar and games like Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield will be shit. They are gonna be available Day 1 on Gamepass and potentially could be exclusives which is huge.

Besides games they published like Dishonored 2, Doom, Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein 2 faced the opposite of criticism, they are all well liked in the gaming community. Wolfenstein Youngblood is a recent flop but no one was really bothered that much by it because it was a spin off like Old Blood and another failed experiment, this time in co-op. All in all they are still a big gaming company with talented devs and popular IPs.

Youngblood wasn't bad. People were expecting it to be like New Order/New Colossus whereas it was a spin-off non-AAA title with the price to match (€25 at launch time on Steam). Most negativity came from the incel community not wanting to play as women.

What are Sony exclusives? Since the first PS, only game I've always wanted to play is Gran Tourismo, that's it. I don't care about the RDR or GTA delays either, they're still superior versions on PC.

Admittedly there are a few, but not as many as it used to be.

There are Japanese games which personally I'm not interested in, like Yakuza, Persona or Bloodborne.

Then there is the likes of Spider-Man, Tsushima and God of War which I am mildly interested in.

Naughty Dog games are the only ones that I consider must-plays. I can live without the rest.
