Red i decided yesterday unless their line up is overwhelming superior and i simply have to have it i will go to PS4.

There's lot of reasons why but a lot of my real life friends are going the PS4 route for one.

I still have concerns with the PS4, mainly reliability of online gaming as last gen whenever i used it i found it to be an inferior service to Xbox Live.

I'm hoping the mandatory subscription based service to play online will be enough to bring them to a similar level.

btw Xbox will still sell because there are still many in US who use it more for streaming and other entertainment things then playing games

Sony is still to far behind when it comes to online play. For this reason alone I'll buy an Xbox. Doesn't matter though, I'm not poor so I'll get both.

I just saw an interview with Jack Tretton and he said all the money from the monthly online fee will be invested on PSN. So rest assurred it is going to be notch and far superior to the current PSN service.

GameStop advertising Sony !? Good business lol ... Just now a couple of my friends told me that a bunch of GameStop shops here changed the layout of the store to advertise Vita's , PS3 and the last of us and god of war ...

i know this is going to get a large amount of hate and all but I still feel I have to say it.

I understand why the system is going to always online. I feel part of it is DRM but another part of it is that a number of games are going to use its cloud computing power to strengthen gameplay. I feel the X1 conference showed alot of games being played in open world scenarios. Alot of its functionality is using their cloud services which are pretty amazing.

Again I am not in favor of this whole 24-hr check-in BS. And honestly I think I am gonna stick with my 360 for atleast another year(probably more) before I choose. 
I think though, they may back track on their initial plan and have a simple message "This Xbox is better when connected to the cloud". 
Honestly I liked the games Xbox showed, Sony's buggy press conference was kind of scary because I have seen way too many PS3s bug out in that fashion but if they were both coming out tomorrow, I would pick the Playstation4. Remember though, Microsoft could backtrack. Sony's original PS3 controller was shaped as a boomerang and they redesigned that.

Sony's conference was buggy maybe because they played the games on PS4 ? Doubtful ... but if they did it's pretty normal for games to lag .. since they go to debugging in the last couple of months of the development cycle ...

Don't take the power of the cloud to your heart too much ... it's PR play by Microsoft to try and compensate for their console being considerately weaker than the PS4

I believe the cloud will make a big impact this gen personally. 

Things like virtual servers, AI calculations etc etc we are already seeing how some of these games are blending seamlessly from single player to multiplayer and that sort of stuff isn't possible on peer to peer.

But the thing is Sony has this technology too, so I really don't see that as an advantage for microsoft despite their claims.

gaikai's an investment, i have no doubt that cloud gaming will be very useful at some point, but 2013 is not that point

Well yeah I agree but when I talk about this generation I mean as a whole not straight from launch.

I mean they are not releasing gaikai service till 2014.

People seem misinformed about this Cloud stuff (not you guys, just people I've spoken to/average gamer), which I feel is partly due to Microsoft promoting it the way it has.  Hell, I've read about it and I still don't know how much of an advantage it really will be.

All I know is it won't be something that turns the XBOX into some supercomputer, which is how I feel Microsoft have been promoting it. At least not in the foreseeable future. I prefer Sony's approach to it currently.

Also all my core group of gaming friends on the XBOX seem to be switching over to PS4. Except one guy who seems genuinely depressed that we're all making the move, because he "doesn't like Sony games" and loves Forza.

Bringing him over will be fun. I like a challenge.

It won't be an advantage for Microsoft at all IMO as said before Sony has similar tech for the PS4 even if it won't be there at launch.

doesn't seem like Sony are investing in the technology as heavily, but that's just an assumption on my part, they've been relatively quiet on it, Microsoft seem to be putting their full weight behind it.

I think that is for PR reasons.

MS need to have something positive to hold off the negativity towards them. ( one of the reasons they showed off some games with no gameplay IMO)

Sony don't really need to do anything at this point as everyone is positive towards them, they have a superior console spec wise and its not been mentioned once by them.

Not to mention as shown, Sony's stance on used games and always online is much more effective PR than any cloud gaming capabilities or power of the console ever could be.

I don't really mind QTE's as much as most people tbh.

But they have to make sense and used as something to break up the gameplay and not used every 5 seconds ffs.
