Btw is everyone ok with me just changing the title of this thread to just Sturridge, and we'll make this his thread. Borini will have to wait for a thread until he comes back. What do you say?

They can lean, sit, do hand-stands, whatever... As long as they're holding trophies.McAgger wrote:It doesn't count unless you lean

ynwa's quote at preseason:
"I still feel Borini is the more talented of the two and it will eventually show"
All time classic quotes of GL LFC. Well I had my howler of "we need a downing type player more than a mata type player" as well.

Settle.
We're not even 3 months into the season.
I'm talking about 5 years into the future here. Borini will become a very good player.
With that said, Sturridge has proved me wrong thus far. Good for him, and good for Liverpool. Long may it continue.

Sturridge's form hasn't been over 3 months though. It's been 9 months actually.something-red wrote:Settle.

and yes, Borini may become a very good player for a team like Sassuolo
Looking forward that you admit defeat about Toure soon as well

sepi
why dont we have a howler thread
Borini, good lad he must prove himself at Sunderland those 11m pounds , i think that injury made a difference to what he could have been today.

Re: Sturridge || The Double Edged Sword #15
Borini is looking like a huge waste of money with every passing day. I'm really disappointed that we've spent nearly 20m on two players (Aspas/Borini) who we always knew were added for immediate depth and not to the first team.

Re: Sturridge || The Double Edged Sword #15
Can't fault Borini when Sunderland hasn't allowed him a single start, let alone frequent subs appearances. Changes the dynamics of the game when on for Sunderland and certainly performs better than Altidore.
Too early to write off Aspas.

Re: Sturridge || The Double Edged Sword #15
Cmon every single person and their cats knew that Aspas was bought for depth with a slight hope that he might turn into another Michu. Having seen his qualities now, there is no way in hell will ever be a regular starter for us that we will be content with. And it's not like he's young.
Borini on the other hand is young and does have time on his side, but if he can't get minutes for the worst team in the league, is he really the sort of player that we would want in our team? And Arq, he did have 1 start and bunch of other sub appearances but really didn't justify himself to be a starter for them.

Re: Sturridge || The Double Edged Sword #15
The sad thing is, there is no league games also to test Aspas. So he will have to wait for his chances, he just needs to be ready with full gas whenever he gets a chance. We had to play him in that CAM role, which he is not suited to at all. I dont think we can write him off just yet.

Re: Sturridge || The Double Edged Sword #15
Aspas will come good, there's no doubt about that. Just needs time to adjust to the pace of the PL. Not a limited player like Borini.

Re: Sturridge || The Double Edged Sword #15
How can you say Borini is limited and say Aspas will get good? I honestly don't see it. In fact, it's the other way around. What exactly has Aspas shown or done to suggest he will become good? And before you mention he's playing out of position, so was Borini and you continued to attack him.
Also, Sunderland is a mess. We should honestly call back Borini, because there's no chance in hell he'll get on the pitch there. Too much politics involved with Di Canio gone. Won't be surprised if S'land go down.

I have no idea what Sunderland will do this season. But if possible, it would be better to send him on loan to some Italian club.

Re: Sturridge || The Double Edged Sword #15
Almost certain that reports of the loan move specified that there is no option to recall him before the end of his stint.
