(double) Double standards
Sooo, cleverley and wilshere both on yellow cards, cleverley sythes wilshere down from behind, no second yellow, wilshere treads on evra, gets sent off.
To compound matters, carrick in the first half raked his foot down wilsheres leg so much his boot flew off, a far more aggressive version of what wilshere was sent off for, did he get a yellow card? nooooooo
farce and a disgrace
oh yeah they got a non penalty as well

It was not intentional handball, not a pen, read the rules
If you read again, i didnt write that. Im simply disgusted at the double standard. I m not even going to bother saying we deserved anything, you deserved to win, congrats

Re: (double) Double standards
No point blaming the referee mate, It would only be relevant had we performed good. It's all a smokescreen...

Sounds like the penalty was a penalty. Tom Stupidly is another matter, though

Re: (double) Double standards
Cleverley was supposed to be sent off, yes. Questionable referee decisions in this match shouldn't be the headline though as we clearly dominated them from start to the finish of normal time.

Re: (double) Double standards
Look mate, i know we played awful. But make no mistake about it, if they went down to 10 men with 35 minutes left as they should have done this is a different story. But you know, i can accept the referee making a bad decision, but i cannot accept him applying a different standard to one team. If he didnt send wilshere off, i wouldnt bother calling the ref out for not sending cleverley off, but it is difficult to keep quiet about it if he then punishes your team for the same thing....

Wilshere's second yellow tackle looked worse than Cleverley's. So I don't blame the referee there. Although when you see replays I agree it prolly should've been red for both or neither.
United's penalty was a penalty.

Re: (double) Double standards
The RvP tackle on Sagna was honestly a red card 50%+ of the time too.
BUT, I disagree that the ref had a bad game. The penalty was harsh from the player's perspective, but it was the right call as frustrating as it is for Santi who couldn't have done much, and Wilshere had been on a yellow all game and had given a few minor fouls numerous times, so one bad one like that late in the day and you always knew he would be sent off. Cleverly was on a yellow and maybe he was fortunate not to get sent off too, but he hadn't accumulated as many minor offenses.
Nothing to complain about IMO. We lost that game because we were utterly shit, that is all.

Re: (double) Double standards
There is this common perception amongst fans, and its fuelled by ignorant tv pundits who dont know the rules themselves, that a handball depends on where your arm is, if you have your arm pointed up its a pen. This is just not true, it is only, soley, based on intent. If the intent is to handball, its a pen, if it isnt it isnt a pen, end of the story. Did anyone think cazorla had intent there? the only intent i noticed, was to cover face
When a player deliberatley hand the ball, they will probably have their arm up or out to the side. This is where referees, pundits, and fans have to distinguish between players who are trying to obstruct the ball, and players who are protecting themselves

Re: (double) Double standards
Eman, im quite aware wilshere deserved to be sent off, however i am mystified as to how both cleverley and carrick avoided yellow cards for fouls on him that were both stonewall yellow cards. They were taking the piss with some of their tackles on wilshere, smh, probably trying to injure him again so they can protect their pathetic england careers

Re: (double) Double standards
Cleverly was a touch away from a second yellow, which is why Ferguson instantly subbed him out. Wilshere was already warned before his second yellow, he could have been sent off earlier.
Also comparing Wilshere's tackle to Cleverly....seriously...YOU NUTS?
