That's how excited I am about this signing.
Djourou definitely out the door.

As long as he has 80+ strength.
Who knows, he might turn out to be the next Kolo. His goal scoring record is very interesting. Not sure in a good way or bad way

It's not that I consider a bad or even a pointless signing, just a meh transfer in general.
He'll obviously be the next Kolo Toure.

I think I have watched him play around 10times, Mostly in the EL last year.
He is better than Giroud but we dont really need him.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
He isn't a Stoke style player at all. I don't understand how you can suggest his arrival would mean Arsenal would change to Stoke-like tactics. Just because he's tall and strong does not mean his play style is aimed toward such direct football.

I know he is a great player, it has nothing to do with him. If we did not have Giroud, I would have been happy with him, I know he is no where near Stoke player.
Wenger is not able to use them to fit our system. If Walcott is not playing Giroud is almost useless.
I rather get another Spanish player that really fits our system.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Llorente is better than Huntelaar, if we're signing one of these two I would totally prefer Llorente. And Llorente isn't a 'Stoke player' at all... this is the same striker that killed Manchester United with a possession based team.
Still... hoping that the player from Spain that we're interested in is Adrian Lopez.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
You realize if we were to get a proper defensive Mid, we would solve our winger problem by shipping Cazorla there?
As a backup we can use Chamberlain (I am one of the few who still appreciated what he offers to the team.), and Rosicky!
Why not?

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
In my opinion we need a strong/box-to-box/defensive midfielder regardless of any situation, it should be a priority (Coquelin will probably have to go but what the hell)
Then if Walcott plays centrally more we need someone who can play on the wing and is good there (please not Zaha), that player could be Adrian Lopez, hell even Navas from Sevilla.
This way we'll have Giroud and Walcott as central strikers. Plus Adrian and Podolski who can backup if needed. That's why I don't think we necessarily need to sign a striker if Arsene is not changing formation.
Adrian would be a good signing, because he's good first of all (he's an improvement to some of our players), affordable (15million exit clause) and versatile (can play anywhere in the final third).
Bench: Mannone(?), Jenkinson, Vermaelen, Capoue/Arteta, Rosicky, Chamberlain, Walcott/Giroud
Adrian and Capoue = approximately £22million. If the numbers are real that will leave us with £48m to spend in the summer without selling anyone.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
You dont rate Vermalen? He is our captain. He has brain fart moments, but has bailed us our countless of times.
Btw guys, what is your take on Koscielney being played as a Defensive mid? I think he has got what it takes based on :
Good passing skills
Reads the game well
Great engine
Intercepts and defends exceptionally well
Strong player that rarely gets bullied off the ball.
Why wouldn't wenger try this out?

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
No I don't rate him as high as most on here do and think that both Mertesacker and especially Koscielny are better options. He's good enough as 3rd choice though with the Zambian guy as 4th choice.

I agree these would be two positive signings, but the numbers thing - reports of upwards of £40 million to spend in January, or the summer, or both, etc. ... is anyone else incredulous? I don't mean simply that Arsenal will spend that money (ha, everyone's incredulous about that!), but also that the big amounts are earmarked not only for transfer (or signing-on) fees, but also for the wages? For instance, a lot has been made in the press about the five new contracts for young Arsenal Brits and how they represent contractual commitments of over £70 million for these guys. Then there was that report about Wenger, apparently, saying a £30 million transfer would be too expensive for the club because it would also likely entail an additional £25-30m in wages.
I expect a January signing or two, and more in the summer, and I am optimistic that they will be good ones ... but I don't see the club spending upwards of £30 million over the course of 2013.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
The 22-year-old enhanced his growing reputation by keeping Ivory Coast and Chelsea striker Didier Drogba quiet for much of Sunday’s final.
'Drogba was almost invisible, it was very easy for me,' said Sunzu. 'I have no secret, I’m not afraid of any player or team regardless of names.
'I was very confident throughout the match. I was focused and it helped me to convert the last penalty.'
