Arsenal and Benzema have contacted each other
At least according to this goal.com article that AS picked up:

Re: Arsenal and Benzema have contacted each other
" The first thing you want is to be very physically fit to give it my best throughout the season. And I'm doing everything possible to that end. On July 11th I'll be ready to fight. I'm not in the habit of setting a target as for number of goals. I just want to make a huge season. I know I'll be getting better and I'm going to score many goals . " These statements were made by Karim Benzema last week in an interview with AS . The French player made it clear he did not intend to leave Real Madrid and also acknowledged that he thinks he can succeed with the merengue group. Nevertheless, the situation could change. And, according to reports from England, the white club reportedly met with Arsenal on Thursday to negotiate for Karim Benzema . Apparently, a perfect domino effect could be triggered that would start next week.

Benzema would be a good addition, but i can't see Arsenal paying his enormous wages. If he was part of Arsenal squad right now he would be the highest paid player by a landslide.

The Benzema deal depends all on if Aguero goes to Madrid. If that doesn't happen, Mourinho isn't getting stuck with so little strikers not having a replacement.
His wages are also a real problem, yeah. But I am pretty sure he would like playing here. I'd personally love him here, he'd fit in perfectly.

Pretty sure Benzema will be a Madrid player next season, so can this link just die already? Quite clearly not going to happen.
