Higuaín homegrown? Bitch, please! I can't speak for Marcelo but everyone, I mean EVERYONE knew about Pipita in Argentina before he left River for Madrid. He was already a huge talent.

Marcelo was 18-19 when he came to RM. I think that is enough to judge if he is RM youth product.

Has to be atleast three years in the club while being under 19 to be considered youth doesn't it?

According to UEFA, he is home grown.

As a Boca fan I give all the credit to River for developing a talent such as Higuaín. No point in trying to take credit for something you haven't been a part of.

@vanDEEZ - it does not, but the topic is about homegrown players, so this is marginally relevant. If we go by these assumption every team can say they have about 10 - 20% more homegrown players.

Man U may have brought up Welbeck and Cleverley but Barca have brought up the likes of Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Valdes, Busquests, Fabregas, Arteta, Pique, T.Motta... Class in every single player and its through La Masia that talent has been sighted by professional teams and look where they are now...
