Marin has not lived up to the promise he showed during his teenage years at BMG and early years at Werder. Much like Babel, only Babel had the physical aspects to play in PL, which Marin doesn't.
Good enough for us for the moment, imo.
Fair enough if that's what you think. But I really don't think he's much better than what we have in the reserves.
Normally I'd leave it at this, but... really? Those names you mentioned, Pacheco, Adorjan, Yesil? Obviously they're completely out of the first-team picture, plus Marin is a much more established player than those three combined. Of Assaidi I'd like to see more - and will be baffling if he, too, is out of the picture once he comes back from AFCON - but Marin would certainly be a good addition to our squad for the rest of the season.

I wish we'd just work on getting some cover for the DM position and possibly the LB position.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2013
We don't really play with an out an out defensive midfielder pool. Whilst I'd like extra cover for Lucas, I feel Henderson can step up until the summer if needed. Not too many teams want to get rid of players in January which just means much more inflation.
As for LB, I feel Robinson is ready to be the back-up for Johnson if needed. Enrique should be back soon, anyway.
Coutinho would improve us and is only going to get better in the future. What's with the facepalm?
@ Art: Wouldn't bring in Marin on loan personally, but I do agree he is a tidy player.

I don't know if he is injured or anything, but Robinson barely made any appearence this season. Also, unlike Glen-Kelly the difference between Robinson and Enrique is too big. So a back-up LB would do good.
Coutinho, from what I have read, is an AM who can play on the wide areas. We need someone who is comfortable on the wide areas.

I agree. With Gerrard coming deep so often to collect the ball, a DM would just get in his space.

so 7 more days left for transfer window to close, excluding today's remaining day. I wont be surprised if we dont sign anyone before the window closes.

Slowly but surely it seems the most obvious scenario

Re: The January Transfer Window 2013
I hate to say this but being realistic BR might be planning considering the possibility of Suarez leaving in summer window (I will pray that it shouldnt happen). So BR may try to bring someone in the team in this window so that the new signing will get acquainted and well adjusted with the rest of the team in this season to cope with any possible departure.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2013
None of the players brought in or targeted match Suarez's style or position, they all compliment it. That's not planning for a player's exit, it's building the team around him (which is inherently planning for their stay).

Re: The January Transfer Window 2013
Heil Mein, I have to say I've had those thoughts as well. It kills me to think about it, but CL football is a must, if not for next season then for the one after that surely if we want to have any hopes of retaining Suarez's abilities in the peak of his career.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2013
Suarez won't leave imo. Liverpool is his dream club and he has stated he's in for the long term. We're building the team around him, there's no way we'll get rid unless something extreme happens. We've already rejected a 40m bid from City... doubt we'll get more than that honestly so it just shows the support is mutual.

Well, of course he will say that and I don't think anyone in the football community can blame him of breaking his word if he does hand in a transfer request in some transfer window, saying something like "I want to experience CL football". That's how it works.
But no way we're looking to sell Suarez for any price, so we are not looking for replacements either.
Let's just say that if a player of Suarez's class is happy to stay with us for the rest of his contract (until 2016 or 2017 is it?) without us having CL football, we are a very lucky club.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2013
I've followed Suarez' career since Ajax mate, I watch the Eredivisie more than I do the Premier League (since 2009 anyway), Suarez stated Liverpool was his boyhood club before Barcelona had him in his sights. He's only wanted to go to Barcelona because of their interest in him in the past. Before we were interested, in fact.
I'm certain if the club is loyal to him, Suarez will remain loyal to us. He's respective in that way. He only pushed for a move to get out of Ajax to come to us because of him supporting us as a kid. It's why when he's rumoured out he continues to rubbish them saying something along the likes of 'I've fought hard in my career to be here, I'm not going to let others influence me to leave the club' (not exact quote but it's something similiar to that)
Spurs actually tried to hijack him from us in 2010 (surprise surprise), and he rejected them despite them being in the CL and offered him more money than we did.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2013
It all sounds very nice, but I'm too cynical to be that blue-eyed about his future. I don't expect him want to leave this year, but neither I expect him to stay until 2015+ if we don't get back to the CL by then.

There's a difference between being cynical and just plain negative, Art.
I'm cynical, and this season you've been negative.
You're posting, but not contributing. So its basically just spam...

Liverpool did win a trophy last season, lacklustre as it may seem to some.
