Queens Park Rangers are on the brink of signing Julio Cesar after previously thinking it would not be possible to tempt the Inter Milan goalkeeper to Loftus Road.

Laudrup would not confirm or deny that an offer had been rejected, but admits the deal could still happen.

Southampton manager Nigel Adkins says the club's chairman is working hard to secure the signing of highly-rated forward Gaston Ramirez from Bologna.

Considering Liverpool have, by all accounts, never lodged official interest in Dempsey beyond an early inquiry I'd say Sunderland has a very good chance of beating us to him. That is unless something significant has happened in the past two or three days, of course.
