Re: Is 40m euros for javi martinez the most overpriced transfer ever?
Ireland has never been worth 8m in his life
In any case i don't like adding the value of the player on top of the transfer fee.
I always found the Ibra deal being 70m rather silly, it was 45m plus eto'o not 70m.
They paid 45m not 70m.

Its not silly..Each player has a said value.Moratti at that time demanded €70m for Ibra(I mean taht is the price they valued him at) from Barca and they dropped the price down by including Eto'o in the deal.In the history books Ibra will be listed as a €70m transfer and not a €46m transfer.
Say we sign Jovetic for €10m + Matri + Quagliarella ,would you say €10m is what he's worth(taking only cash into account) ?Thats absolutely stupid to think that way.

No, in that case he was worth 10M + Matri + Quagliarella to Juve. You don't have to translate everything into money, it is what it is. Same goes for the Zlatan transfer. So yes, if you want to be precise it was 46M + Eto'o; which is what it should say in the history books. Not 70M, because that is simply not what Barça paid.

Barca fans trying their best to defend one of the most over priced player in history, Mole just jumping in to make himself look busy.
either you agree or not, Ibrah transfer to Barca total value was worth at least 70million including Eto'o

IF Song is worh 19M to be honest Martinez is worth 38M atleast. But that's a pretty stupid way to compare.
Martinez is letting go 2*5 = 10M so essentially we are paying 30M odd for me.
Other than that there are not Ball Playing DM's who can be good at CB & are 23-34 year odd & available. Lets be honest. A transfer market price goes by Demand & Supply. There is huge demand but no supply.
Why would a Basque only club sell their crown jewel for 20-22M?? They cant even buy Non Basque players. In this case we have to overpay to force them to sell. Its simple as that. Given his age & the potential Long Term Benefits he can give us,I believe he is worth it for sure.
I would rather buy a Very Very Good player for good money than scrubs for less money. Why on earth would Bilbao sell Martinez for what he is worth? They are not a charity organization

Martinez is young, very good now, and the potential to be WC... 40 million to solidify your midfield (at the highest level of European football) for at least the next seven years. It's not that bad of a deal. In addition, you bought yourself darned good cover at CB. 40 mil is a lot of money, but it's far from the most outrageous transfer that's happened in recent years.

I'm not in the mood to read all comments.
But I have one thing to say over here.
Martinez deal will be for 5 years, and he was supposed to earn €7.000.000/year.
And because he want to play at FC Bayern, and considering that Athletic will only listen to his buyout clause which is €40.000.000 and they will not accept a penny less.
So, he accepted a wage reduce for €2.000.000/year.
Practically, with the €10.000.000 wage reduce, Bayern are paying €30.000.000.
The sponsor (Adidas) will pay €5.000.000 for him.
all in all, Javi Martinez will cost Bayern €25.000.000.
Hoeneß and Sammer are not stupid.
we are not in dept, we have the money and we can pay.. and such kind of transfers doesn't happen each year, especially with a club like Bayern.
Just look at our players transfer fees before you judge and throw random words about us being a big spending club..
Manuel Neuer: €22.000.000
Tom Starke: Free
Dante: €4.700.000
Daniel van Buyten: €8.000.000
Jerome Boateng: €13.500.000
Rafinha: €5.500.000
Luiz Gustavo: €17.000.000
Anatoliy Tymoshchuk: €11.000.000
Franck Ribéry: €25.000.000
Arjen Robben: €24.000.000
Xherdan Shaqiri: €11.700.000
Mitchell Wieser: €800.000

Claudio Pizarro: Free
Mario Gomez: €30.000.000
plus, Holger Badstuber, Diego Contento, David Alaba, Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Emre Can, Toni Kroos and Thomas Müller are promoted from the academy.

We need to get rid of Tymo and Van Buyten and replace them with any talented
Player from our youth set up.
