This is how a question from the media about another club's players is answered.

lol, no point at all in selling him then unless Wenger truly believes the team will be significantly better because of it. At this point, a week before the season starts I'd say yeah f-cking right.

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
Thought I'd quickly right this little piece on Etienne Capoue, ater having the privileged of watching the eventful Ligue 1 season opener between reigning champions Montpellier, and Toulouse.
The main focus for me was of course rumoured arsenal target, Etienne Capoue. However, I also got to see The impressive ball playing cb, Yanga M'Biwa. Firstly, what I instantly liked about Capoue was his aggression; the ability to assert himself early on. To stamp his authority amidst a strong Montpellier side. With in minutes, it was evident why Capoue has been linked with Arsenal and Barcelona in recent times. He's an imposing figure who stands at at least 6'2; he sits several yards infront of the back 4 and instantly, his first intention is to go forward.
Of course, going forward every time will occasionally result in possession being squandered. It was as if Capoue was aware of the prying eyes and tried a bit too hard at times. His sometimes over elaborate inventive play resulted in giving possession back to Montpellier. Most importantly though, instead of throwing his arms up, he immediately went back to win the ball. I feel that the likes of Arteta and Cazorla will minimise the possibility of losing the baller as the aforementioned pride their play on give and go football; to pass the baller, move in to space, and instant demand it back. While watching Toulouse, it was as if Capoue wanted to be both the DM and playmaker. Encouraging to say the least, but unnecessary if playing for a well drilled attacking team like Arsenal.
Also, Capoue looks technically. 'Daisy cutting' passes were also on the menu today. 'give and go around the corner' was also evident. Strong in the tackle and considering that, bizarrely, there were 3 reds and 1 yellow, Capoue wasn't on the receiving end of any bookings. Nearer the end when of the match he began to tire; a couple of weak passes were easily cut out by Montpellier but all in all, Capoue showed a lot of maturity, responsibility, intent and technical awareness. Only on a few occasion when Montpellier were reduced to 10 men did we see Capoue advance further for obvious reason of course. But more importantly, there's no denying that the kid is definitely cut out for the defensive midfied position. Still young with a lot of potential but from what I saw, I'd keep very close tabs on him and consider making a move if Song departs Arsenal for Barcelona.
The question however, is, 'is Capoue better than Coquelin' even at this stage?
Experience: Capoue
Passing: Coquelin
Tackling: both
Pace: Coquelin
Height: Capoue
I'd sign Capoue as a replacement.

Well they've lost Anelka, Drogba, Kalou, Malouda and Lukaku. And one must also factor in injuries as well as going for a double. So I'd say their squad is adequately sized

FTBpro, which is an amateur footie site, admittedly is saying Welbeck + cash for RVP.
Would any of you take a deal like that?

That's not a bad deal, actually. A lot better than just selling van Persie to United.
No way that's going to happen, though.

Oddly enough, just this morning (and for no particular reason) I was pondering getting Chicharito coming back Arsenal's way. But then people are always conjuring up these swap deals and they rarely come about.

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
Welbeck is part of manu future, highly unlikely they will sell him. Getting RVP may not strengthen Manu more. Remember they took berbatov who was one of the better strikers in the league, and he had a mixed career there. Although what would they do with 5 strikers if they buy RVP.
Rooney, hernandez, welbeck, berbatov and RVP.

I know they'd love to force Berbatov down our throats but for this to work I think we should demand Chicarito or Welbeck plus cash. They have too many strikers anyway even though I know they'd love to drop Berbatov. Wenger has never sold a player to SAF. I hope he doesn't start now. And if he does, do it with a side of Chicarito or Welbeck please.

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
I wouldn't take Hernandez. He lacks the technical ability to play up front on his own and wouldn't fit into our system at all. Even if he's not quite as successful in front of goal, Welbeck would be a much better fit.
But as I've said before, no chance of anything like this happening. United aren't going to give us one of their most promising talents in exchange for an ageing, injury-prone striker.

unbelievable. You think utd would be getting ripped off trading an average young player for a world class player in his prime? only team getting ripped off if that deal happened would be arsenal
cant believe some of the bleep i've read about van persie, some people even think it would be worse to lose song its ok to hate him i guess but it doesnt change the fact he is a bona fide world class player
did any of you actually go to the emirates last season? in terms of quality the arsenal team was a bleeping one man show at times i actually felt sorry for the guy in some games. I dont even blame him for wanting to leave that mess tbh, i just hope cazorla convinces him to stay but i doubt it will be enough

It was a mess last year mate, This year it's much much better in terms of Dependency.
however, i Don't want welbeck. I don't rate him. I rather have Berbatov than him.
But in the end, Selling RVP to man utd, city, chelsea. It's not worth it. Rather keep him for another year.

I believe you're overreacting quite a bit. Since you went to the Emirates, you're more qualified to judge the team as a whole? And because he played a year of world class football and carried the team, he should disregard the years of injuries and periods of time where Arsene Wenger was carrying his career along by retaining faith in him? Likewise with the fans, they supported him while he was Diaby 2.0 and now that we're finally getting on our feet he can ditch us and possibly leave us in shambles? 7 years of faith > 1 year of world class play.

I think Cash+Chicharito would be a good deal, I think he is better than Welbeck. They scored the same amount of goals even though Chicharito saw a lot less playing time.
Even though honestly keeping him even for just one season is probably still ideal. I'd only do that deal if I had to.

I don't know how you've come to this conclusion. I haven't denounced van Persie's qualities in any way, neither have I suggested United would be ripping themselves off by trading Welbeck for van Persie.
What I'm actually saying is that from United's prospective it wouldn't be a sensible or logical move. Welbeck is far from average and can only get better. He's not injury prone, and he's a product of their own academy. Potentially, he could be a mainstay in United's team for many years. So why would they give a player like that to a rival team? They'd be much better off just buying van Persie outright.
I also fail to see how Arsenal would be ripped off. We'd be rid of a want-away player and would gain a promising young striker along with the two other quality strikers we've signed this summer. That'd be making the best out of a bad situation, would it not?

Different players. Hernandez is a pure goalscorer and will score more goals, but Welbeck brings a lot more to the table; better physical attributes, better technique and first touch, higher work ethic and all round better hold-up play.
