Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread Pt. 5
Brazilian striker Robinho looks set to stay at AC Milan after it was revealed the Italian club are reluctant to agree a deal with Santos.
A swap deal was also mooted involving 22-year-old goalkeeper Rafael, who recently became a full Brazil international.
Rafael's agent Paulo Affonso revealed that talks with Milan had taken place over a deal for the youngster and that they had included Robinho in those discussions.
However, he also confirmed that those talks had stalled, with the Rossoneri reluctant to let Robinho go.
"We're always available to talk to Milan as they are a big team," Affonso told Globo Esporte.
"The meeting went well, but we couldn't reach a deal involving Robinho, because Milan can't afford to lose him now.
"That's their decision and made the negotiations stall."
Regarding Rafael, Affonso added: "Rafael plays for a big team and favours the top leagues such as Italy, England or Spain.
"I have two offers from second rate markets, but neither Santos nor Rafael are interested in those offers.
"Milan are still interested in Rafael, but he is completely focused on the Olympics and won't say anything before the competition is over."

He said they will loan him, then they wont then they might loan him again.
So in a nutshell....
They won't loan out Andy Carroll, but they might loan him out.
No, Rodgers said he would consider a loan move or sale for Carroll, but only if it was for the benefit of the club. He's since reached the conclusion that a loan move would NOT be in the best interests of the club.

Well clearly Rodgers doesn't want Carroll, but I don't think the owners will be keen to discard someone they spent 35 million pounds on so quickly
So now they're somewhere in between lol
Not even a day ago people were claiming the owners had mandated that Carroll be loaned/sold, and now they're the ones forcing the manager to keep him?

I missed that conversation - why would the owners mandate that Carroll be sold?

Thiago has a serious serious injury I doubt he will play until November.

Wages and decreasing sell-on value.
The theory was that because Rodgers seemed to be looking to loan/sell Carroll despite the fact that he's never seen him train, so it must be the owners pushing for it.
Now the theory is that because Rodgers is (saying roughly the same thing) talking about keeping Carroll despite still having never seen him train, it must be the owners mandating a large price for any potential Carroll sale.
Personally, I think Rodgers is just keeping his options open until after he has the chance to actually train with Carroll and see if he can adapt to the new style. Only then will he make a decision. A loan was never a likely option, and Rodgers will want to make enough money off the sale of Carroll to properly replace him (hence the talk of no moves unless it's for the good of the club). Carroll wants to stay and prove himself, and Rodgers has said he will have the chance to do so but must take that chance when it comes. The media, in the meantime, have taken the chance to drum up stories and sell more papers, with Allardyce (twat that he is) and Newcastle making their interest public in the hopes of unsettling Carroll and getting a good price.

Douglas:
Sky Sports revealed on Thursday that the Magpies had made their move by putting an offer to Twente.
Douglas, though, claims to be unaware of the approach and intends to spend the 2012/13 campaign in the Eredivisie.
He told TC Tubantia: "I and my agent know nothing of a bid from Newcastle.
"I want to stay at Twente this season."

Manchester United target Sahin as frustrations grow over Lucas Moura pursuit!
Manchester United have turned their attentions to Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin after growing increasingly frustrated in their pursuit of Lucas Moura.
- Spoiler:
http://www.goal.com/en/news/596/exclusive/2012/07/20/3253225/manchester-united-target-sahin-as-frustrations-grow-over
This would be a fantastic move for both Sahin and Manu so I really hope it happens. United need a DLP and Sahin is a great one, he would get playing time and most likely fit the system as well or become the system .
Don't get me wrong though I would like Sahin to stay in Madrid. but it seems Mou has no faith in him and would rather pursue the option of signing Modric. Oh well, our loss.
EDIT: Since this is the transfer rumor thread I assume that goal.com will suffice as a source .

Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread Pt. 5
i hope to god the modric rumours are like the Kun ones, we seriously don't need him and i doubt he would play anyways. Better to go for a CM who is actually better than Khedira and not worse. If Cazorla really wants to leave why not get him instead much cheaper and alot better than all the options we have

the difference between the kun rumors and modric's is that we actually made a money proposal, and Spurs want more.
