Fifa Ballon D'or - Who Will Be Top Three?

As of now it seems the top three will be Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Andres Iniesta in whatever order. Andrea Pirlo and Xavi also stand a chance. What do you all think? Any other names you can think of? Mesut Ozil may have an outside chance but I doubt.

1. It's Messi's, you don't simply have the best individual season ever, and not win the best player prize.

i think iniesta will probably win it. or messi. it would be a well deserved win for him.

Thanks for the replies guys. It seems the general consensus is that Messi will win for a record fourth time.

I am a big fan of Messi no question but I wouldn't have given it to him in 2010 and I wouldn't give it to him this year either. For me it's largely about the player who stood up to be counted when it mattered most. In other words the player who was most decisive in key moments. How many goals a player scored during the season and how many times he blitzed five goals past utterly hopeless opponents doesn't mean all that much to me.

True but tbh, Messi had one of his best individual performances that led Barcelona to the 'success' that have had this season. The fact that players were injuried, out of form showed how important he is indivudally...

Ballon d'or is for the best player in the world, for the player with best individual performance...
Its not for a player on the team with most trophies (Trophies are won by teams)... Liga was won by Ozil Alonso Casillas etc.. not just Cristiano #lol. (same in case of Messi and Barca).

If two players had close performance individually, you give it for the player with more major trophies etc..
example: Iniesta and Pirlo were the best in the Euro 2012 (very close individual performance), for Me Iniesta wins it cause he won the Euro with a better performance in the Final.

In Ballon d'or case, Cristiano is no where near Messi, when it comes to overall performance... (he was close in terms of goals, Messi 82 vs 69 for Cristiano both played 69 games in all comps)...
But, Messi was better in every thing else by farrrrrrrr (overall influence on his team, assists, vision, dribbling, passing etc..!

When it comes to trophies in 2011-12 (Liga vs SSC, Copa, CWC, USC).
Yes, 4 minor trophies, but Barca won the SSC and Copa while beating madrid twice!!

No... just no.

Messi was the best player in the world... end of. This award places heavy weight on trophy-winning, but its not awarded on some calculation of trophies. At the end of the day people choose the winner and I'm sure they will simply look at Messi's season and write his name down. He deserves it.

It'll be Messi then Cristiano. I base my judgement on an entire season. Iniesta had a great Euros but I'm sure Cristiano's season will be judged as superior.

As for number 3... it could be anyone. I can see it going to a Spaniard because of the Euros. Possibly Xavi because he had a good goalscoring season (not his best season at all... but half the dropkicks who vote on this award will look at that and his GOAT performance in the final). Iniesta is also very likely. Personally, I would have no qualms with it going to Casillas, he deserves it for his incredible career. Its about time a keeper got a mention. I respect him incredibly, despite him being the captain of the enemy. Finally a shout out for Pirlo... I can see him coming 3rd as well.
