That pass to Pato from Marcelo was fantastic by the way

Marcelo's goalscoring record for Brazil is GOAT btw :coffee:

Hulk should be a starter now. Must feel great for all the Brazil fans that Menezes is atleast making the right callups now.

I don't know if Brazil really let up in the second half. I think Jurgen allowing Bradley to move up the pitch really provided the stability the US needed to order to deal with Brazil's speed and pressure.

In the first half eveyone seemed overwhelmed on the US side (outside of Bradley, Johnson, and Gomez) by the pace and pressure of Brazil. In the second half Jurgen did the right thing and let Bradley move farther up the pitch and it changed the tide of the game. Then they introduced Dempsey and Brazil were on their heels.

I still have no idea why we kept going up the right side to Donovan in the first half when he was essentially getting double teamed. Once they moved the attack more up the middle of the pitch with Bradley it started to open up both wings. Then they got really smart and used Donovan more as a decoy to draw the extra pressure to open Brazil up.

I thought it was interesting that just like in the Scotland game no one had an answer for Johnson on the left. We just need to realize the kid has arrived and use him more, because apparently no one told him we were supposed to be playing "the Brazil."

While Jermaine Jones is reckless at times, I love that he straight bossed Neymar.

In the end, I walked away from that game feeling really good about the future despite the score line. Outside of some bad breaks and amazing goal keeping I think we had a chance at least.

2012 International Friendlies - Page 5 Empty Re: 2012 International Friendlies

Post by rsinatra Thu May 31, 2012 3:02 pm

any smart brazilian knows that (almost) nothing should be changed in that line-up. perhaps one centerback, one or two midfielders. hell, i wouldnt even put dani alves back on the team. that guy always underperforms for us, and danilo is doing a great job, he just needs to get to know the other players.

people need to stop calling this our olympic team, this is the best brazil i've seen since august 2010, with a few flaws to address to and minor things to adjust. and im not saying that because of the wins: if u look at the past 2 years, we have had more wins than draws or defeats. what im talking about is how we play. up to now, we've been winning some matches but very unconvincingly, playing like crap most of the time. now we are actually impressive. our full squad should be something similar to that. oscar, neymar, hulk, damiao/pato.. rafael on the goal.. t. silva +1 , marcelo, then dani alves(IF he can improve) or danilo... and then 2 midfielders...

any wrong change (e.g. bringing ronaldinho back or kaká, robinho, anyone like that), and things could go back to shit again.

one other problem with our team is that the style we've been playing on this last 2 games (high pressure up front and stuff) requires a lot of preparation. just watch both second halves against denmark and usa, and you'll see that the players got tired and relaxed a lot, giving room to the opponents.. this might be fatal against real strong teams. also, we need to adjust the communication and a few things on the back...

if ganso comes back, he should be on the bench for the olympics, unless he's 100% and on fire and oscar's form vanishes into thin air

Riomulo shoudn't start but other than that yea.

OSCAR

On a side note, the commentator said Ganso needs surgery again, if that's the case then I don't think he'd be an advisable transfer for any club....

I thought the score didn't do justice to the game actually. It was even with a lot of opportunities both ways. Brazil finished theirs and the US didn't.

US is going to be a dangerous team. For the first time ever, they can get results playing footy as opposed to underdog tactics. Very encouraging.

Well, we lost. Sad Honestly was expecting a win but it looks like it was pretty easy for Brazil to take advantage of the lack of speed at the back. Now I worry for Mex olympic team who seem to have a similar problem. But we still gonna beat them on Sunday. XD

Anyway I'm not to bothered by this lost. It only means Onyewu can't be used against fast opposition. Our offense was pretty good IMO.

Rafael does it again, btw. Second time I see him pull out some amazing saves to win a game.

Sport, Brazil missed chances aswell.

Damiao missed a 1v1 and Pato hit the post.

So it wasn't like Brazil won it undeservedly.

It wasn't the best defensive performance though, but it's never been something Brazil has been great at either.

exactly. it\s what the espn commentators said.. usa couldve scored more, but so could brazil...

btw, Mano said that he wants to see Oscar and Ganso playing together. what do you guys think, would it work_ he said that if ganso hadn\t had that surgery, we would\ve seen it already

Usually when you have two players who are good at the same thing it causes more disruption than connection. I'd still like to that though.

Same with Lucas and Neymar together.

At Hulk's expense?

Hell no.

Unless it's Ganso deeper, but right now I think Brazil should continue with 2 wingers. Oscar should continue to start, the guy got talent.

Rsinatra i feel Ganso is much better deep anyway so yes it could work very easily.

Would mean no Hernanes though.

yeh, only if ganso played deeper.. or maybe mano is thinking of a 4-1-2-3, with only one CDM, and ganso and oscar right behind neymar, damiao, and hulk.

i think it depends on where they play. neymar and lucas kind of play on the same side, so it's not possible, unless u want to risk not getting 100% out of one of them. but with ganso and oscar, in the midfield, it could happen, just like xavi and iniesta hehe.. of course, xavi and iniesta dont always share the same space.. but u know what i mean.

but it's risky business.

ganso could well be a #8, like socrates, while oscar takes up the #10.
