I can't think of a reason not to sign Afellay. Both him & Van Persie are screaming out at Arsenal for the club to sign Barca man.
Affellay is cheap (£6.5m), versatile, young (26) & has an outstanding relationship with RVP on and off the pitch. No-brainer.
Please make it happen.

I guareentee you this, he is'nt worth 6.5m anymore after his recent performance and his price is only going to go up....
No chance in hell he leaves unless for big money IMO and you dont need him anyway.

Spending 6.5 mil (if thats the price tag) to help RVP stay and also getting a very good footballer thats not a bad deal at all, but we need to make space in the squad to make it 25.

If that makes van Persie happy, sell Arshavin to Zenit and get Afellay. Dat chemistry

Afellay would be a good fit for the reasons mentioned above.
Also we'd need a Benayoun type player who Afellay could very well be (although no one in the prem has Yossi's work rate imo)

that's basically what he is. you can stick him on the wing or in the midfield. your right though, yossi's workrate is great. afellay has better touch than he does imo

Radio RMC in France report that QPR, Malaga and Atletico Madrid have made offers for Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud.

I'm a Lebanese Gooner complimenting an Israeli Chelsea player so let's call that what it is. Unlikely
I still think Yossi works harder even if Ramires has more stamina.

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
“I have always said that my aim is to come to the Premier League one day because I love the league,” Holtby told talkSHIT. “My father is English and of course my favourite teams are Everton and Arsenal.
“It would be a massive move [to Arsenal] because Arsenal players were always my favourite. They play nice one-touch football, they’re offensive, have young players, a great stadium and a great city so it is a nice club.
"My thoughts now are first with Schalke but you never know.”

Didn't know he was half English... also.. do you guys not think that wingers are surplus players that the modern formations barely use? What's the point of buying out and out type of wingers when really we play with 3 in the middle and with not too great of attacking full backs.

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
Holtby isn't a winger. He's a playmaker who prefers to play in central positions, but can fill in on the left flank if need be. Very promising player and would be a good addition, I reckon.
I'd just as happily take Afellay, but I've a feeling that Barcelona aren't as keen to sell as reports are suggesting.
I don't see how wingers are surplus in modern day formations, especially ours. They're an important part of our set-up. Having good players comfortable in wide areas really helps stretch the play and open up space for the central players to have an influence on the game. Not to mention the bulk of the service to van Persie last season came from the flanks.
At this moment in time we don't need a winger, but they are important to have in teams.

They would be overworked , and we would be in need of a target man (meaning no Rvp).

Honestly the money interested on afell could be used elsewhere... i done... say m'v.ila. THEO had like 9 assists... add podolski on the other side... they will provide assists needed from the sides. I wish we would invest in the middle or full backs ( minus sagna.. or weakest areas.)

Schalke midfielder Lewis Hotlby: "A move to Arsenal would be massive. In footballing terms, they're my favorite."

Lol @ Holtby's 'Come and Get Me, Wenger!' plea
He's not a bad alternative to Gotze (if Wenger still has the hots for him and was willing to pay). Schalke can probably afford to let him go because they have Draxler and others plus they just loaned holtby out anyways
It's always good to have guys that WANT to be with us though.

Between Doumbia and Rondon,I would definitely prefer Doumbia but his CAF duties during the season, might be a problem for us...
