Puyol, Sergio Ramos, Lahm, Ivanovic & the players close to suspension ahead of the Champions League final
The disciplinary system works as follows: When a player has picked up three cautions in three different matches, they are forced to serve a one-match ban. Unlike in previous seasons where yellow cards are wiped clean at certain stages of the competition, this term any bookings received in the group phase are carried over to and throughout the knockout rounds. But crucially, any cautions accrued in the qualifying/play-off stage that did not result in a ban are expunged.
Once a player has served a suspension for picking up three single yellow cards, any subsequent odd-numbered bookings (fifth, seventh, ninth, etc.) will result in a further one-match ban.
A red card, of course, means an automatic one-match suspension, and depending on the severity of the offence, Uefa could extend the ban.
At the end of the season, all the disciplinary charts are wiped clean, though any outstanding suspensions will carry over into future campaigns.
Here are the players who are only one booking away from missing the final, should their team progress.
who will miss the final in your opinion?
and who can replace them?

Very interesting element and a great thread topic
You can see more or less everyone on that Chelsea list getting a yellow in the next game. Also, you might as well give Ramos a yellow now

Funnily enough I don't think Ramos will get one. Coentrao on the other hand seems more than likely to get booked.

honestly i hope Meireles gets booked, if we somehow get into the final he'll be a massive liability, although the other 3 are vital to the team, if we get into the final we will need them

Chelsea and Bayern could be in trouble even if the qualify.
However I doubt that the refs in the game will be card happy. Two Spanish in each semi means there will be no Spanish refs and Webb has already reffed.
Those are the most card happy refs imo.

Pepe was fully calm in the last two games. Nothing to suggest he won't be calm again.

Marcelo is probably finally gonna get his red, right?
Boateng, Ramos and Coentrao to miss the final, at least. Probably half of Bayern going down tomorrow

Ramos and Alonso are my candidates from Madrid.
Masch from Barcelona.
Gustavo and Alaba from Bayern.
Cole, Ivanovic and Meireles from Chelsea.

Unsurprisingly many CBs on the list. Barcelona and Bayern Munich would be in most trouble should they get players banned.

Well, from the Bayern team, Boateng and Gustavo are most at risk. I hope Badstuber will keep his calm, too. Lahm getting another yellow is unlikely as he normally tackles very cleanly. IIRC, his was booked for dissent or something like that.

Rwo, you're forgetting that referees nowadays are idiots and book players for clean tackles. Or even for no reason at all (see Adel Taraabt)

Re: Puyol, Sergio Ramos, Lahm, Ivanovic & the players close to suspension ahead of the Champions League final
By the way, I just checked - Viktor Kassai will ref the Bayern-Real match. He is a very capable ref, so I'm quite confident he won't turn this into a card game.
Chelsea vs Barca is reffed by a Turkish guy (Cakir) whom I don't know from memory.

Oh and whichever Chelsea player inevitably gets a crucial red card at the camp nou that gives Barca the extra push needed to win the game and get into the final
