Re: Players you were wrong about.
I thought Marcelo would be a failure at left-back, and he should have played on the wing.
Thought Gago was going to do us well, too. :/

Forgot about him but yeah, him. I thought he was a fat useless flop for awhile (and he was) until a couple months ago.Le Samourai wrote:No Benzema yet

Kalou, when he first came to Chelsea I thought he would lead the attack once Drogs had left but how wrong was I.

Re: Players you were wrong about.
Thought R9 was gone after his second injury on his knee.
Torres for Chelsea, though he's adapting to them now.
Dirk Kuyt suprised me. Thought he was going to be sold after his first season before he moved to the right wing. Mascherano is another. From West Ham reserves to a team fighting for top four is an amazing story.
And last........... Stewart Downing. Expected atleast ONE assist for a player in his prime years.

Re: Players you were wrong about.
Wrong :
Ramires , he is just AMAZING , i don't want to overrated him tough
Mikel : i thought he was going to be an superb AM
quaresma , he even more skilled than cr7 but he hasn't even 1/10 of the mentality of the guy
on the other side , i knew Di maria was going to be that good and i'm still afraid for him because as soon as he will be a bit off form for half or 1 season he will be sold

Re: Players you were wrong about.
Really interesting... I never liked Iniesta much either. Didn't show much under Rijkaard to me, damn I was so wrong.
I thought Gio Dos Santos would be a world beater. Bojan too. Both have had bad luck, Bojan still has a chance to prove himself.

Re: Players you were wrong about.
I too was convinced about Giovanni Dos Santos...
It's still early (like, way too early) to say anything about JDS, but I was convinced he was Xavi #2 and expected him to be in a rotational system for the first team around this time but he's since stagnated a bit.
Still a jewel of a player who I expect will have a role to play in Barca in the future. We'll see if I'm wrong about that.

It can be just signings for a team or entire careers.
For example, I thought Ibra would do very well for us for various reasons. Of course I didnt expect he would be used like a number 9 but indeed he wasnt good enough for us.
One I didnt believe would be this good was Iniesta. I just didnt see what Rijkaard saw in him at the time, didnt see anything special at all...boy, how I was wrong.
I am sure there are others, I will remember and add later on.
But what about you?
Fabio Borini - i didn't think he would add anything special to the team but he is an amazing player
Kjaer . I thought he can be a really good defender for Roma but he turned out

Busquets :vagi: me the most. I never thought he was anything near the player he is becomming. Brilliant mid/dm.
I also thought nani was going to be sold as a flop, but after cronaldo left I were :vagi: once again

i dont like JDS' mentality
i mean just see what happened with Mexico
he was threatening to quit if he didnt get called up and he was a youth teamer at Barca at the time
thats never a good quality to have in a player and that same quality drove Gio out of Barca

Thats not the whole story, he doesn't have a bad mentality at all. The Mexican team treated him very badly and unfairly and so his father threatened he would not play for Mexico. It even got as bad that he turned up to catch the plane with the team or something and they said they didnt need him.

Re: Players you were wrong about.
As a Santos fan, I have to bring up Robinho. The guy was a monster at Santos, really wanting to prove himself. Something went wrong for him at Real Madrid, and even though he later regained some of his form at AC Milan, I don't think he has ever, or will ever reach the potential he had as a youngster.
I also have to bring up Diego (currently at Atletico Madrid), though his problems were perhaps more complicated and less his fault. Still, his hothead never helped
I guess I should mention Pato too. lol
P.S. I have more hopes for Diego [getting close to the potential he once displayed] than for Robinho.

Kieran Gibbs, I always thought he's crap but now I'm proven that Gibbs really has potential of being one of the best LB's in the world.

That was his father speaking for him. His mind wasn't in the right place.
Gourcuff (though I still cling on to him), Quaresma, Gerard, Farinos, Benzema (to a lesser extent), and Pavon have all decieved me.

Re: Players you were wrong about.
Benzema initially at Real and for quite a while...
Ozil b4 he joined Real...
Abidal a few years back...
Valdles a few years back...
Steven Gerrard when he started at Liverpool way back
Aguero I Didnt rate him too much b4 he joined Man C...
Loads... Some players just exceed ur expectations, while at the same time, lots of others disappoint.
