Players you were wrong about.

Cristiano Ronaldo....I always thought he would severely impede our link up play.He only slightly impedes it now.

RVP deceived me, no doubt about that

I thought he had good technical skills but was to injury prone and inconsistent to score more than 20 a season

Problem with Seb Larsson is hes very limited, hes a fantastic crosser and set piece specialist. He's pretty much the Swedish Leighton Baines tbh.

Bigger clubs will want someone who is more complete and provides more from open play.

Rich mans Ryan Taylor tbh.

Thought Anderson would be great and Lucas a flop :vagi:

Another English goal keeper, Chris Kirkland, another one I thought would have been pretty good. Wrong there. Anthony Le Tallec and Siname Pognolle, particularly the former, really thought they would have been great. Maybe they were never that good or Houlier never bothered nurturing them to fulfill their real potential but needless to say, I was wrong...

I though Iniesta was going to stink when he was Deco's sub. But he became better than him

Yea....that entire France team that won the under 17 world cup in 01 has been a disappointment.

Even the tournament's third (?) top scorer Maxi Lopez turn out to be a disappointment although I think no one but his momma expected great things from him...

I thought he'd spend half the season fighting injury honestly. I was pleasantly deceived though. He's been a real revelation and has really stepped up as DDR's deputy in midfield as well as his right-hand as well.

i think a team that needs a tactical player is the best club for him, i mean Sunderland are lucky to have him, his defensive contribution is second to none

he would be benched in a bigger club, he has been doing excellent with Sweden under Hamren because he is asked to play as an attacking wide player, he has scored many goals since he took over.

Lucas Leiva.......I remember bashing him so much at the beginning of career with us, I really rated Denilson higher at the time. Boy, has he proven me wrong.

Also Yoan Gourcuff, I wanted him to be Gerrard's ultimate replacement once he retired but he's turned out to be the epitome of mediocre players.

Special Mentions to Quaresma, I really thought he'd do well anywhere, and Skrtel, he's proven me wrong, i didn't think he was starting caliber for us.

the kaka one is definitely true, i thought kaka would actually have fit better than ronaldo.. i didnt think we were going to sell robben and i thought having 2 cutting in wingers would be a flop. alas we sold robben and ronaldo has been great, kaka has flopped.

From what I seen, he has been used as a wide player..but he doesnt have great directness and speed, so really good sides really dont want that.

I never meant like a top 4 side for Larsson although I think he is better then some of the players on some of the top 4 teams in the EPL.

But when Birmingham was relegated he was just kind of sitting out there for a while, I thought the mid-tier teams would be fighting over him as he was going to be on a free as well.

I know Sunderland is Mid-Tier now but I always thought he's better then that. I'm a Sweden fan so if you watch his international performances he's outstanding especially when him and Ibra play off each other and at club level he never has the chance to play with a player like that plus when he is a focal point of a teams attack he is very dangerous. I agree when he's not involved in the play a lot he has a tendency to drop out of the game and doesn't demand the ball which he should on the smaller teams he's been on.

But this off season Charlie Adam seemed to get all the praise for being a great set piece specialist and I was always stunned no one mentioned Larsson as he is deadly from 35 yards and in.

While I was never his biggest fan nor buy into the extreme hype around him, I did think Iturbe would be more than he is right now. A lot more.
