Prandelli pushed DDR to midfield in the middle of the first half, it was evident that the midfield needed some steel.. he went for a 4 at the back, 3 middle and 2 supporting Balo

I like Pasquale, he put in some impressive crosses. What i don't like is DDR as a CB, just use him in midfield. Italy doesn't have ANY player that even remotely resembles and does what DDR can do (in midfield)

Also, Maggio is a mistake waiting to happen

Balo is still so lonely up there. I just wish that in Brazil G.Rossi will help Balo out. We cant only rely on him. Also, play Florenzi instead of Monto. We need more energy in the midfield.

If EL Shaarawy and Balotelli have an effective partnership this season, then ES should start for sure. As wingback I prefer Maggio rather than Abate.

No doubt Maggio is great at wing back but with the left back potentially being the weak spot, somebody on the other flank with Abates defensive qualities would be reassuring

Also, SES might gell with Balo somewhat, but unless they really 'click' i'd take Rossi if he keeps this up. He's fantastic when he's fully fit.

ES's time will come. But I wouldn't have him starting at this WC personally.


As for my Marchisio inclusion, it's mainly because Italia miss him so much, with the work he puts in. To me, Monty and Pirlo in the same XI is just pointless.

MDS is still inexperienced at international level, he would just get skinned like that game vs Brazil. Having him as in the first XI would be too much

It has to be Criscito or Pasquale for me. If Criscito can sort his mid life crisis, injuries, corruption allegation and all the other shit then let him come back

Pasquale i really like, you saw how he bombed forward for Italy (Fio too) He's an great at going forward. And don't take him as one of those fullbacks that attack and never defend, when shit hits the fan he runs his socks off.

If Pasquale can play like that for Italia, then he shouldn't be overlooked. Especially since we have one Abate on the right flank. God knows when he sends in those once-in-a-year crosses

Would be solid at back even if Maggio goes on his runs, Florenzi will bring balance and work-rate, DDR is the breaker, Pirlo and Totti the creators. Rossi is speed and Balo is strength and finishing.

Thats if Totti should return. 3 men backline wont work in todays football. Simple as that.

Back 3 has gotten us 2 draws with Spain. The 2nd, unlucky not to win had it not been for Balo being out and Gila being bad.

Back 4 gets us dominated by scrubs.

Last season 3 of the top 4 teams in Serie A played with a back 3.

Most of our players are suited to it and train exclusively in a back 3
