Your starting eleven for next season

PS : Gervinho will leave for AFCON , Diaby will likely sustain injuries so arteta will get time
Rosicky can play 90 min anymore , ( we need a sub for sagna , you guys have an idea )
Podolski is everywhere in front because i think he will be a sub at first . RVP have to be rested because THIs big season + euro is a lot ( assuming he'll be there ) . Verm could also play as RB if required

Re: Your starting eleven for next season
Actually Jenkinson is a RB not a LB , so we do have a cover for Sagna
Re: Your starting eleven for next season
Even though I think Podolski will be our only huge acquisition, there's a chance alot can happen over the summer. If we do lock up the Podolski deal, and make no other big deals I think we would line up something like this:
The midfield is a huge question mark. Really depends on how Jack and Diaby comeback. Both have got the ability to be starting in the midfield, and I only place Wilshere ahead of Rosicky because of his ability to play the whole 90 minutes.
Szczesny
Sagna Koscielny Vermaelen Gibbs
Song Arteta
Wilshere
Walcott Van Persie Podolski

Szczesny
Sagna --- Koscielny --- Vermaelen --- Gibbs
Arteta --- Song
Walcott --- Wilshere --- Podolski
van Persie

Yes, I'm someone who believes Wilshere can perform in a more advanced and creative role. He excelled in a deeper role in his breaththrough season but with Arteta now here we can let Wilshere play further up and make full use of his abilities, which is something I don't think a deeper role does.

Re: Your starting eleven for next season
im going with this as wellSzczesny
Sagna --- Koscielny --- Vermaelen --- Gibbs
Arteta --- Song
Walcott --- Wilshere --- Podolski
van Persie
that Midfield is just perfect with the way 3 players shifting roles during matches to confuse opponents
and with the depth to avoid over-loading players
Coq-Aaron-Rozza
OX and Grvs
key to build solid back 4 that play along side each other week in week out
to improve understanding
just assuming(!)they dont get injured :vagi:

Re: Your starting eleven for next season
An even more interesting question would be: "when was the last time Arsenal fielded its starting XI?". I seriously can't remember.
Anyways, I'll go with Jay's lineup and would probably sneak Mertesacker in there depending on opposition.

I'd have Arteta orchestrating things, while Wilshere and Song hold down the fort just behind him. People underestimate Arteta's creativity and passing

Re: Your starting eleven for next season
Our midfield is usually so fluid it probably wouldn't matter which order you play them in. I would like to see Arteta get forward more, but I suppose with Rosicky and Ramsey not quite as adept playing deeper and being disciplined it can't be helped at the moment.

Re: Your starting eleven for next season
it depends on the role they are playing.. Arteta plays for us more as a defensive midfielder.. And Rosicky is better as CAM.. And i think Wilshere can do both.. And nowadays Song also does both.. So i think its going to be Song Arteta Wilshere.. If its Song Rosicky Wilshere, then Song we will go back in the defensive aspect..The Verminator wrote:Well then question is, is Rosicky>Arteta or Arteta>Rosicky?

Good question. I've seen a number of similar comments from others.
AFCON is every 2 years so Gerv's will not b going anywhere next year

Re: Your starting eleven for next season
Anyways, the wonderful thing about next season is that we will have quality depth, unlike previous seasons where we had to rely on the likes of Denilson.
Next season we will have the likes of Coquelin, Diaby, Eisfeldt, Henderson, Rosicky, Deench, Ox, Gervinho, Per Mert, Djourou, Miquel, Bartley, Ryo, Lansbury, Yennaris
Some r not proven but talented as we've seen and baring a major injuries, we won't really need to throw them in

Wilshere is versatile, I believe he can make it in a more advanced position, if things don't work we still have Rosicky, Ramsey, Diaby, Coquelin or even Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ozyakup - so the midfield shouldn't be a big problem.
We have wing depth aswell - Gervinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain and probably Miyaichi too.
Podolski can cover van Persie if needed. Mertesacker is a great backup (will probably play more than Koscielny or Vermaelen due to injuries) and Djourou is decent 4th CB. Jenkinson and Santos can cover Gibbs and Sagna.
A winger signing (loan Ryo) wouldn't hurt.
Anyway I doubt we can play our first XI ever lol

Re: Your starting eleven for next season
For those asking about the African Cup of Nations, it is, indeed, true that Gervinho will be going to compete again next season. The AFCON is being moved onto odd years - as in, 2013, 2015, 2017, etc. - so as to not clash with the World Cup years. In order to fully implement the change, they're hosting two tournaments back-to-back.
Thus we could potentially lose Song and Gervinho for a couple of months next season, which would be a major pain. We should have the depth to cover for that, though.

Re: Your starting eleven for next season
Amar, Jay and Urba teams are all probably what we'll see.
Though squad options will change.
I see Arshavin, Almunia, Squillaci, Chamakh, Park all leaving, whilst I see Benayoun returning to Chelsea following his Jewish Chronicle comments a month or so ago. Vela, Denilson and Bendtner won't be here either (hopefully).
I believe Fabianski and Mannone may leave too. The former for first team football, the latter due to his Olympiakos horror-show despite his fine form for Hull.
In terms of ins, I'm not sure Ryo or Joel are 100% ready just yet (also depends on latter's work permit). Lansbury like wise.
What we need if all this happens ^ ?
A back-up keeper with experience, a versatile defender, a quality playmaker and a 3rd choice striker (assuming Podolski arrives, Van Persie stays).
Szczesny
Sagna
Koscielny
Vermaelen
Gibbs
Song
Arteta
Walcott
Wilshere
Podolski
Van Persie
-
Craig Gordon
Mertesacker
Rosicky
Belhanda/Martin
Chamberlain
Gervinho
and an experienced striker who will be happy as back up (or Afobe)
Leaves players like Ramsey, Djourou, Coqueiln, Jenkinson etc as back-up

Given our depth of true wingers next year, would it be silly to suggest we give Walcott a chance in front of goal?

there is AFCON next year because CAF has decided to have it on odd years so that it doesnt clash with World Cups.
