Ribery has reported that pep has asked whether he can play in the middle. False 9? AM? CM?

Are there any reports out there that Pep asked Bayern to sign Gotze for him? Or did Gotze just wanted to work with Pep himself and agreed to join?

Hoeneß said that Pep asked for Neymar but Bayern don't sign players directly from Brazil anymore (club policy) so they gave him Götze instead. Sad

I read that aswell and it's quite interesting actually. Lahm is incredibly confident with the ball, I think it can work.

Just imagining this reminds me of Joe Allen. Might get outmuscled far too often in the middle.

I did say this when Pep was first rumoured with Bayern that Ribery would be his Iniesta.

I don't find it a bad notion tbh . By the way , is there any info out about what formation Pep will use ? 4-3-3 or will he keep the 4-2-3-1

Lahm playing central in a scrim couldn't have anything to do with Gustavo, Schweinsteiger and Martinez missing...

As for Ribéry as #10 thing that's a massive misquote which started at Bild and spread around.

And that's good, too. Ribéry played as a 10 for LvG a couple times and was horrid there.

Lahm playing CM wouldn't be bad because he'd be bad at CM, it would be bad because Bayern has plenty good CMs, but only one good RB.

It might be good for the competitiveness of the BL, though. hmm

Pep bringing back competitiveness to the BL by interesting line-up choices so that people will not claim he can only win in uncompetitive leagues Proud

Will be interesting to see where Gotze plays, with Kroos already there at AM. Also will Robben be dropped after an impressive end to last season?

I said this as well....but I really really didn't mean he would be playing a central role. Essentially to me - he would be playing almost the same role as he is now - but the structure of the team around him would change.

Ribery would be terrible centrally - even when he cuts in he looks somewhat clueless/ taking everything as it goes. He can collect deep and still do the same thing - dribble down the wing, cross do all that. He's not going to become a midfielder.

I think Pep is going to look at Ribery and the fact that he's probably the best player on the team at the moment - and play with a more traditional striker. Even if he moves him back into a midfield three...which I think is increasingly unlikely since they've bought Goetze.

Something like this

-------------Javi-----------
-Goetze------------Kroos--
Muller---------------------Ribery
---------Striker----------------

One does not simply leave out the pigrider from the starting lineup. And Götze is not a midfielder.

I think Kroos as a DM  and Javi as a CB are very possible under Pep, all depending on the formation though..
