Robinho, what a sad story

I used to love the guy.
Honestly, I feel that if he stayed with us, he would have become absolutely worldclass. I mean, imagine he was here in 2009... we would've won a third league (Maybe a CL quarter or semi or something). And then, with Ronaldo/Kaka he'd have owned.
I HATE Calderon for this one!

Re: Robinho, what a sad story
I don't agree. He wasn't anything special and throws temper tantrums when he doesn't get his way.
We should have kept Robben not Robinhood.

Re: Robinho, what a sad story
I agree with Robben.
But, both Raul and Higuain had a great year in 08/09. Then Robben owned, and Lass was exceptional that year. Not to mention, Ramos was the best RB at the time. Casillas/Ramos just came off the back of a great European championship. We were reigning champions and just won the supercup...
That year ended up a shocker for us. Why? Robinho left and we replaced an injured Sneijder with Van Der Vaart.
When Robinho left, we imploded...
Now he's definitely not the only reason for that terrible year, but we could've been even further ahead than we are now.
Barca would be losing to us (08 was the 4-1 year, 09 was the 2-6 year...)

Re: Robinho, what a sad story
1 season full of injuries and we sold an entire core.
...I mean we lost De La Red,Momo, and Van Nistelrooj and essentially Sneijder for most of the season. There was no recovering.
Not with Heinze and Marcelo at his worst in defense.

Re: Robinho, what a sad story
Like I said, our season really sucked.
But remember, despite Higuain scoring goals, he was really not experienced enough to take over from Robinho.

Re: Robinho, what a sad story
player management was terrible during calderon that is no secret..
robinho was a great player with us and though he had his temperment issues, he was treated very poorly i feel like we could have done more then cast him off.
mata- also somewhat cast off during this era.. we could have done more to keep him
sneijder- injured was not given time to regain form
robben- got booted when we got ronaldo - i understand this move (out with the calderon players, in with the perez players but it is very disrespectful and we lost a world class player)
vdv- again mistreated im not even going to comment on this one i feel i have said enough before
but the biggest problem with the calderon era was the constant coaching turnover. friggin ridiculous.
