Define diving

A lot of people seem to use diving rather liberally in my opinion. Do you differentiate between contact and no-contact diving? From throwing yourself and falling easily? Diving and making a meal out of a foul?

Lol, no , Just a huge fan of theirs, when your country can't give you quality football you have to find someone to support. Most of the country is divided between Brazilian fan and Argentina fans; luckily I am a Brazilian fan.

Going down when you haven't even been fouled (exception if you go down to avoid serious injury) and going down if you could have battled though it and went on.
Not every hold on your jersey or contact is reason to wail your arms and go down. I don't have respect for these kind of players.
So yes for me there can be a foul and a dive on the same play.

Well a dive is anything where a player goes down when he didn't physically have to.
So there can be a dive and a foul in the same action. And I think exaggaratnig contact isn't always as bad, especially when a player is getting fouled a lot and wants some protection, I will understand that at times, when lightweight players do it.
Grinding out free kicks is another thing, though, and I hate it. Especially going down when there wasn't even any contact should get you banned for at least two matches if video evidence of it is reviewed after the match.
Tons of kudos for the Serie A to actually do something about it.
In the Bundesliga at least Refs tend to yellow-card players who dive too blatantly, so it's a start, but I'd prefer the Serie A route.

I'm pretty sure i've seen a definition of it somewhere before and it was something like "simulating a foul when no contact was given by the opposing player"

Diving in my opinion, is when there is not enough contact to send you down, but you go down anyway. Play acting, is sorta when you fall after the dive or a legal tackle, and you make a meal out of it.
