Re: La Selección Argentina
Lamela Biglia
Gagos injured, yeah.
I think Montillo has done okay, if Messi cant play he will probably play Messis role. Better than Sosa
As usual the questionable call ups but great list overall.
What I'd like to see against Colombia:
GK: Romero - undisputed starter
RB: Zaba - undsiputed starter
LCB: Fede I suppose, they have a consistent partnership, might be better to wait and experiment in less important games or after we're qualified
RCB: Garay - undisputed starter
LB: I don't even know, all the options are pretty abysmal. Campag hasnt really impressed there, I guess play Rojo on the off chance he will play decent.
Holding: Maschete - undisputed starter
CM: Banega or Biglia who is more defensively adept.
AM: Di Maria - undisputed starter
10: Messi if he can make it in time, I'd prefer not to rush him if he's not ready to avoid another disastrous reinjury. If he cannot, Montillo should play.
Fwds: Higuain and Aguero both obvious choices.

Masche is injured too albi. It will likely be Banega - Biglia in midfield.

Re: La Selección Argentina
Good list. I want Lamela to come in at some point.
4-3-3
Romero
Zaba-Colo/Fede-Garay-Rojo
--Banega/Biglia--Masch-
-----Fantastic 4--------
I would like Coloccini to start, but Garay and Fede won't be bad either. Banega has shown signs of improving, but I really like Biglia too, so I would be happy with either of them
Di Maria off and Lamela in in 2nd half. Also, if Banega/Bigilia start, then whoever starts should be replaced by the other later in the game.

Re: La Selección Argentina
Ricky Álvarez should have got an invite in my opinion. He hasn't been consistently great, but he has improved a lot lately in Inter.
Re: La Selección Argentina
I agree with the two previous posts.
I would prefer Ricky to Palacio, Augusto Fernandez, Sosa etc.
It would be great to see Lamela get some time.

Juanjo Brau (Messis personal physio and a great guy): "Leo is recovering good, and he'll be able to play the World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Ecuador."

Re: La Selección Argentina
should be a cracker, colombia and argentina have quite a bit of a rivalry, both are at the peak of their powers, but have unreliable defenses to say the least.
however, our quality should shine through

Re: La Selección Argentina
It will be tough, especially without Messi. Our midfield is weak. No Pastore, no Gago, no Gaitán, no Enzo Pérez. And then you got someone like Augusto Fernández being called up. Not looking forward to it.

Re: La Selección Argentina
His Barca physio said he would be declared fit to play yesterday, so I'm guessing he'll be good a week from now. I think Messi will start, although I do wonder how we would play without him.
I think without Messi Sabella would play a 442 which is his preferred formation. Likely with a midfield comprised of Sosa, Masche, Banega and Di Maria, although Lamela would be a much better choice than Sosa. Aguero and Pipa up top. Also Insua has hardly played this season for Atletico this season so I'd much rather we use Ansaldi or Campagnaro in his position.

I don't think Ansaldi is called up. Campagnaro or Rojo?
I still prefer Insúa

Re: La Selección Argentina
River u17 wins the club world cup, Driussi top scorer of the tournament and scored the cup winning goal in the final, Tomas Andrade was voted player of the tournament.
The results it took to win:
First round:
River 4 - Sampdoria 0
Málaga 0 - River 1
Real Madrid 2 - River 0
Semi Final:
Barcelona 0 (1) - River 0 (3)
Final:
Atlético Madrid 0 - River 1

Re: La Selección Argentina
Damn, I missed them all.
Congrats to River, they certainly have the best youth system in Argentina but the world? That is a huge achievement.

Re: La Selección Argentina
Team that trained today:
Banega not even being considered for Gago's role
Rojo
River youth being the best is nothing new
Romero
Zabaleta - Fernández - Garay - Rojo
Biglia/Augusto - Mascherano - Angel Di Maria
Messi
Higuaín - Agüero

Re: La Selección Argentina
damn thats a shame, banegas really been on top of his game recently too.
I guess sabella doesn't want Masche to be alone in protecting the back four, makes some sense against a team like Colombia. prefer Biglia tbh, sorry BC, as you know, I dont rate Augusto

Re: La Selección Argentina
Lack of Colo is a crime against his curly locks tbh.
Especially as Messi is so intimidated by them he just stands still in awe

Re: La Selección Argentina
Banega is as defensively solid, if not more than Biglia though. Just because he has recently being played as an AM doesn't mean he can't defend. I feel that he's the most natural fit for Gago's role and wonder why Augusto is ahead of him in the pecking order.
Would prefer to see Colo over Fernandez and Campagnaro over Rojo as well.
