Not really. They were all on top form but they didn't do anything yesterday that I haven't seen them do before.

Re: La Selección Argentina
Colo played okay - but in a game where everyone was subpar that made him look good.

Well there was a very stark contrast between the efforts put forth by both teams, clearly.Zealous wrote:Albiceleste wrote:These Saudi's are playing their asses off, probably one of the biggest games of their careers

Re: La Selección Argentina
i dunno how many of you have played against arab/north african dudes. They all play like these guys. Technically all play the same, always looking for putting it through the legs. none of them very fast or strong.
they are annoying as hell to play pick up with. when i lived in seattle these people would come in herds and all play exactly the f´ing same.

Re: La Selección Argentina
Interesting but I've never played against them so can't say I noticed that
Simeone had a great quote today: "At the Argentine national team Bilardo taught me never to exchange shirts at the end of the match, because my shirt is better than the other player's"
GOAT

No Sosa. No Desabato. No Brana. No Rojo. Makes me look past the fact that he called up Di Santo instead of Lamela and some scrub instead of Willy. Overall a good list.

Re: La Selección Argentina
At least his lists have some up side to them now
Montillo is okay I suppose. Gaitan could be good too. Ansaldi being the only recognized fullback is a little worrying, he's quite unproven on the international level as we know, I'd put money on Campag and Ansaldi being the fullbacks. great to see banega back too
But its illogical to be leaving out the likes of Lamela, Willy, LiLo Pastore etc. players who are playing regularly and well in the best leagues in the world, for crap players like Di Santo ffs and Augusto Fernandez or Alvarez who has just gotten back from injury, or fedfern even, who cant even get a start for his club.
that said, I think its the one of the best if not the best list to date.

Re: La Selección Argentina
lol Catrollcho strikes again.
He's good, but not good enough to get called up yet, Sabella must have some pressure to at least contact him and find out what's going on in his head, though. Since Sabella keeps a low profile it's unlikely that we'll ever know if he does anything, but hopefully he won't let it happen.

Re: La Selección Argentina
Probable lineup for Sweden on Wednesday:
ROMERO; ZABALETA, GARAY, FERNANDEZ, ANSALDI; GAGO, MASCHERANO, DI MARIA; AGUERO, MESSI and HIGUAIN (4-3-3)
Not bad, it's probably our best lineup. I probably would play Banega instead of Masch, but that's not going to happen. Banega has had a horrid time at the NT. Fernandez for Coloccini could also help as well.

Re: La Selección Argentina
Play Ever for Masch, and Masch for Fernandez
I know Masch hasn't been at his best lately but the defense is apparently Argentina's biggest weakness. With a back 4 of
Zaba-----Garay-----Masch-----Ansaldi/Insua, they look more solid, especially if Masch can step his game up. Great team nonetheless.

Banega and Gago on the same midfield didn't work for Valencia, doubt it will for us with less time to prepare. Very excited to see Ansaldi play, hopefully he'll perform.

Re: La Selección Argentina
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has praised Lionel Messi ahead of facing him this week and even conceded that the 25-year-old is better than him.
Ibra, who spent a single season playing alongside Messi at Barcelona in 2009-10, will cross paths once more this week when Sweden take on Argentina on Wednesday evening.
Looking ahead to that match, the tall striker conceded that in talking about Messi, he is an incomparable force on the field.
“I think Leo is a fantastic player. Individually, surely he is the best in the world,” Ibrahimovic told reporters today.
“It is needless for me to say. Many people agree and so he has won many awards in recent seasons.
“Between him and I who is the better player? After what Leo has done in recent years, there is no debate.
“It will be fun and exciting to play against Leo this week.”
