Re: La Selección Argentina
that is true, however he's had his chances and he has done nothing with the NT since his goal against mexico in 2006
he's also gotten pretty slow over the years and he's going to be 33 going on 34 at the world cup, which I would bet my bottom dollar he is going to be in the team for

Re: La Selección Argentina
question for you followers of Argentinian football, my local MLS team Toronto FC is being heavily linked with a move for Newell's Old Boys striker Max Urruti, there has been some confusion with his contractual status with Newell right now, but it seems as if the deal is going to happen with some sort of compensation being payed to NOB with the player joining MLS....my question is how good is he or will he be given his young age? will he be an impact player in the MLS?
thanks in advance for any insight, didn't know where else to post this question and get informed answers from posters with Argentinian knowledge

Re: La Selección Argentina
I only caught the last 25 minutes or so, but what a game for Higuain
1 goal 1 assist and check out this xavi-esque pass to Di Maria:
And people say he lacks technique

higuain has made lots of those. Those who say he hasn't got technique don't really know anything about him especially those who say he is nothing outside the box
lol at the miss though. Palacio

I thought if they were suspended and you don't call them up they remain suspended?

Re: La Selección Argentina
Due to the suspension of Federico Fernández, Ezequiel Garay, Javier Mascherano and Gonzalo Higuaín the team that practiced today was:
Zabaleta - Campagnaro - Coloccini - Basanta
Gago - Biglia - Di María
Messi
Palacio - Agüero
Vergini called up to take the slot left open by Rojo's injury. Of course he only gets called up to the NT after signing for Estudiantes

Re: La Selección Argentina
I know people always ask this, but I hardly ever check for Argentina.. so don't kill me, but!!!
Why does Javier Pastore always like.. never gets called-up.. like never ever?

The team is getting a lot stronger i think, shame about the LB spot though
Also Cat, Pastore is shat.

Re: La Selección Argentina
Stronger? Do you mean in more general terms?
Becuase for that lineup
Higgy > Palacio
Masche > Biglia
Garay > Campagnaro
Ansaldi > Basanta
Willy > Romero
Catracho Pastore would be competing with Messi so even if he got called up he wouldn't start. I think his lack of tactical work is what's keeping him from the NT.

Re: La Selección Argentina
What i meant by that Alfred is that players who deserved to get picked who wasn't before are now which is beefing up the squad.
Its a much better squad of players now than when Sabella first took charge.
The only real spot which doesn't have depth to it or any quality at all if i'm honest is LB but you could probably get away with that.
Obviously you have better starting eleven than the one which looks like starting the next game.

Re: La Selección Argentina
Argentina could qualify for the WC today if:
1- Colombia beats Ecuador, Chile doesn't win against Venezuela and if Peru-Uruguay draw.
2- Colombia beats Ecuador, Venezuela beats Chile and if Uruguay beats Peru.
3- If Colombia draws Ecuador, Venezuela beats Chile and Peru and Uruguay draw.

Re: La Selección Argentina
So it's looking like the final lineup will look something like this:
ROMERO; ZABALETA, CAMPAGNARO, COLOCCINI, BASANTA; BIGLIA, GAGO, DI MARIA; MESSI, PALACIO and AGUERO
Looks solid but why play Basanta at LB when we have Ansaldi? Is it because our team is short? or is it because we need someone to stay back when Zabaleta "attacks"?

Re: La Selección Argentina
Who would you play instead of Palacio? Lavezzi?
I think Palacio fits the profile of an Higuain back-up better than Lavezzi, and that's why Sabella is probably starting him.
Reporter: Where would you like to play in the national team?
Campagnaro: In the national team

Re: La Selección Argentina
Messi didn't have his best game, but our counters are getting really good. Imagine a fully fit Di Maria, Aguero, Messi and Higuain running at you on a counter with the master Gagiesta feeding them.
honestly, Gagiesta ffs
