Wenger, if you really have a basement of 70 million to spend, just throw 35-40 million at Roonay. You don't like bringing in more than 3 players in a window so I there is no reason to not do it.

That English core of Rooney, Walcott, Wilshere, Gibbs, Jenkinson, Oxlade would be the best in the premier league in recent memory.

The only thing missing would be Joe Hart and then we'd have every worth while english player not over 32 Laughing

I know everyone (that includes me) want Wenger to spend big this summer but wenger won't do it and if by June ending if no such big deal is confirmed then it wont happen again in wenger's era. I may sound pessimistic but it is the truth about my beloved manager(at least for the past few years now) and not that am saying he has done poorly in the transfer market but when it requires just going a few more length to get the player and he will pull out. scratch
But i really hope he proves me wrong

Let's not be so down on Wenger a day after he secured us top 4! If things turn out like the last few summers, then we can be miserable. But from where things look right now ... everything is set up differently, and more optimally, than in recent summers. Guarded optimism is what's best right now.

The thing just said our transfers/wages will be covered by new deals. I'm sure we can afford 100kpw extra on Rooney if we really wanted to sign him and paid somewhere around the 30m mark for him. Totally worth it imo. World class player, huge statement of intent and would bring a winners mentality to the squad, plus boost morale by showing we mean serious business. No more 4th place trophy.

Rooney is the last person i want in our team if it was not for talent.. he is such a disgusting individual who may create problems in Wengers socialist system where no player is bigger than the other.. and he doesnt know to behave with the press and will keep creating issues.. and all he cares is about money.. guy doesnt know what is loyalty..
so no to Rooney forever... :brickwall:

I may be wrong but I've heard Arsene Wenger may know a thing or two about dealing with premadonnas... Namely a hot-headed 20 year old who came to London and embroiled himself in controversy in the form of a rape case. He reigned him in, I think.

Rooney would be good. he suits arsenal style of play and would bring those important trade secrets of united straight to arsenal. as far is loyalty is concerned its very rare these days so it doesnot matter what u get is a excellent player.

I think if arsenal pay him 150K/week and he gets 250K/week now. we can offer him 100K/week*4*12=4.8 Million straight away. 30 Million Transfer fee. 34.8 Million u get a genuine world class player less deadwood players about 15 Milion. it rounds down to just 16 million.

Not really an AST meeting but a Question n Arsenal session with Gazidis.

Thanks to DarrenArsenal1 for the updates

____________________________________________

Ivan "Season wasn't a classic.....clearly a disappointment we wernt competing for trophies" "season ended satisfactorily but nothing more than that"

"its a big summer,we've worked hard to bring money to compete at top end of game, I know stan and fans want that"

Ivan "Trophies will come, finally long term deals are up for renewal, ground, kit, secondary partnerships"

Ivan "AW done fantastic job, seen us through what could have been difficult period,we are confident in the tools we can give him"

Ivan "we want to extend him out (AW) and will be announced at right time"

Question "since you've been at club our 1st team has descended to second rank,I think we need to make statement signing, will we?"

Ivan "clearly landscape has changed in recent yrs,we have vision for club that doesn't put it at behest of rich owner. key for us is to drive revenues to £300m which is same as Bayern,no reason with that type resources we cannot compete"

"BUT we will rely on our manager to make those decisions"

Question "Why did we sell RVP and give title to MUFC"

"RVP one of most difficult decisions we had to make,we thought hard to keep him to contract, motivation wasn't to pocket £24m.....all choices we bad, best interests we for club at heart as to what we did. It hurts me like it does you with him scoring for MUFC."

"I'm not sure financial incentive was always the issue, not sure all issues were putting £10m on table to him"

Question "When AW says wants top players, but buys players not of that quality, can you guarantee that manager will genuinely buy top players"

Ivan "AW is committed to buying top class players HE believes I, money NOT primarily factor on these deals....ie Santi Cazorla"

"AW.... It all starts with the talents he believes in, he has always had money available to spend, and AW has done outstanding job keeping us in mix on limited budget"

Questioner interjects "why can't you guarantee that manager will spend this money"

Ivan "can I guarantee?? Depends on talent that's available, key is players AW believes in"

Simon of AST "socialist wage structure, can you assure us this its your responsibility and its being addressed"

Ivan "Key decision on wages is on assessing talent, and that's AW,we then need to work if we can sign a player within our wage bill. Looking forward on wages we are going to have to pay market rate, with top players paying more and more money. Our wage has to evolve if we want top players"

Ivan"last couple windows not easiest, made planning difficult, always strive to do it early especially if you have unlimited budget"

Ivan"we are trying hard to get things done early, and we don't have any uncertainties within, but nobody knows what effect ffp may have"

Question: Does CLQ proper play any part on discussions ?

Ivan: No, we act on the assumption that we will qualify.

Question "how long will ffp come into full effect?"

"UEFA will look at FFP from OCT onwards and enforcement will come from them next summer. but nobody knows how (FFP) will play out, depends on strength and willingness of UEFA"

Questioner "What do you do and dick law ((paraphrasing))

Ivan"I am responsible for revenue streams to deliver funds for manager to use. Dick law speaks 5 languages and is responsible for player negotiations"

Question "arsenal "hope" that uefa will stop MCFC, CFC, what if uefa don't stop it,what is plan b ???"

Ivan "we hope, expect, push but can't control, but we would not be doing anything different than now, plan A and plan b is the same"

Question "does coaching staff have influence on AW, does he listen to them?"

Ivan "Of course he does"

Questioner"will you be applying your lazer focus on the dead wood"

Ivan "its clear we've had players who have not contributed, important with ltd budget, its something that needs to be addressed. We do make mistakes, everyone does, but yes my lazer focus is on it"

We hear nice words from Gazidis every season (it's his job) but it's time to act. Get the signings done as early as possible and let Wenger have a normal pre-season so the players can have a few games together before the start of the season. I know it's not easy to get the better players with a limited budget so early but we have to become ruthless in the transfer market, especially this summer.

It's certain it's going to be a better summer than usual, but I really want it to be a special one.

IG asked whether we'd 'missed a trick' by not completing transfer business early whilst rival clubs are manager-less. Interesting response >

FK ‏@fkhanage
IG: No (i.e. we haven't 'missed a trick'). It would be tough to negotiate with clubs who have no managers. [Make of this what you will] #afc

Difference between our revenue and Buyern's is that a big part of that revenue comes from the stadium (fans) while Buyern's is commercial revenue.

Even Gazidis admitted that we still are behind the likes of Buyern and United in that respect, but we're getting there.

I don't think he speaks truth. Wenger is not allowed major signings by the board and they don't let him give high wages so he can't attract good players. Gazidis is lier
