Re: What's going on with Pique?
Ramos jumps higher, Pique is taller...I rarely see Pique beaten in the air, same for Ramos. I see no advantage to either.
Balance..tackling? Pique is stronger, but more likely to get his feet in a mess while running..Pique is every bit the tackler Ramos is, he is also much cleaner. Ramos is quicker and his tackles look more special. I think in terms of positioning, Pique is clearly better. Especially in big games, he is fully focused and his position and reaction is on point. I think Ramos is more guilty of falling asleep tbh.
Cristiano has never gotten the better than Pique over a full game, never. Only that one game this season and even in that, he beat him once for the goal...its hardly a big deal. In other games, Cristiano might of got past him once or twice or whatever, but by the end of the game Pique always had the better of him. Pique has had better games on Cristiano than even Puyols one.
Anyway, noone ever going to agree here too much, which is fine. All I am saying is its premature and I take some offence that Piques body of work is being somewhat ignored.
Great vid Zeal, I got through 4 minutes lol
What I took from it, was basically confirmation. Great mobility and speed, great athletic skills and his time as a rightback has given him more composure than you expect from a centerback.

Same as me lol just in a slightly different way.
Well Cristiano was good in that Portugal game, he really had a hell of a game, Pique was on the receiving end of a lot of it, as was Ramos...that's the only game i'd make an argument for.
If he converted his chances in either the CDR or both games under Pelligrini I'd also argue it, but as it is I think you're right.

Re: What's going on with Pique?
Ramos is a leader, something that Pique will never be. Players are born with this.
On the other hand, Ramos, is faster, better on the ball, and a better tackler. Pique is stronger and he positions himself better.

Re: What's going on with Pique?
I dont count the Portugal game Rag, not because I want to be right, but anything that happens to Spain, the worse the better. I would love them to decline and Xavi retire, Puyol retire and Iniesta do a Paul Scholes lol
But yes, as I said, Cristiano beat him before in individual games. But weigh them up against all their meetings and its one sided.
Zeal lol
My Cristiano jersey isnt even real, it was easy to decieve. My friend gave me it, it was number 7, but it was Quaresma on the back (FC Porto and all).
So thanks, but no Ramos shirt.

Re: What's going on with Pique?
LOL @ Madrid fans saying that Pique hasn't owned Ronaldo over the last couple years.
As Franchise said, he was good vs Pique this last time, but over the couple years, I can't remember Ronaldo doing anything against him. Of course, Dani Alves and Puyol help, but Pique has been absolutely solid against Ronaldo overall since he joined Madrid.
And is Ramos a better leader? I won't doubt I've seen him get fired up and therefore help fire up Madrid, but on the other hand, because of that, he's gotten very frustrated and put in some bad tackles vs Barca and risked the whole team because of it. Like the foolish red card against Messi in the (5-0?), that's not leadership, that's the frustration and selfishness.
I'm not saying Pique is a brilliant leader, but Ramos has his ups and downs when it comes to that, I've never seen him as a leader of Madrid though, just one of the most passionate players there.

Re: What's going on with Pique?
Ramos is a leader.
You can feel it when you watch the games. He has antics but on the field he really , really authorative and powerful vocally. He takes on alot more responsitbility as well.
That much is clear to me regardless of how blind I am about his playing qualities.
@CB he's immature and petulant(at least he used to be) but he's a overpowering presence, he just needs to cut out some of the BS.

Re: What's going on with Pique?
If Iker didnt exsist, would Ramos be captain? I am not asking to disprove his leadership qualities, its a genuine question.
Personally I would say Alonso, his calming influence is more impressive to me and I generally feel he has the personality for it.

Side note: If we win Euro 2012 I'll buy a Pique Spain kit
Then I will Have
Casillas,Ramos,Puyol,Pique
However I will wear the Pique shirt and make it look old before I hang it up

There are a couple ways to answer this question.
1.Yes-he is first vice captain for a reason. He would be captain.
2.Alonso's calming presence is of course just as if not more impressive....however Xabi as a personality dosen't need to armband to do that.I actually feel that Ramos revels with the armband and that the armband accenuates, exaggerates and compliments his personality more than Alonso.

Re: What's going on with Pique?
As far as RM jerseys go on, I would like to have Di Maria jersey. Di Maria
Pique is in slump recently, he should concentrate on the football more than at his private life. Hopefully this porn video won't leak out, I would freak out if I see Pique in porn video.

The player who is at the club for the longest time is captain. It's Real Madrid tradition.

At times last year we have seen the likes of Carvalho and Albiol become captain like halfway through a game, but yeah the club captaincy order is based on that.
1. Iker
2. Ramos
3. Marcelo
4. Higuain
5. Pepe? Lass?

I have to say, I think thats the best way though. Whoever has been there the longest. Works well for NT, in terms of most caps.
