Re: What's going on with Pique?
Mate, Benzema is going to win any longer ball more often than Sanchez or Messi, you cant argue that.
I know Pique plays more sideways passes than Ramos, he is going to because he plays more passes in general. Just because he plays more sideways doesnt mean he cant play more passes forward.
There is a reason Busquets has more passes per game than Keita, its because he is better with the ball therefore is more trusted with it. It goes hand in hand.

Re: What's going on with Pique?
Are you actually saying that Madrid passes more between the defenders (specifically CBs) than Barca?

No, I clearly am not saying that.

Re: What's going on with Pique?
Still most of Ramos's long balls are played across the field and played to their feet. Ramos probably knows by now not to play any long balls to Benzema's head lol.
I didn't get you last point about Keita. I think that was a bit off topic.
And why would Pique try harder balls if he knows Messi and Sanchez are not capable of winning them?

Re: What's going on with Pique?
How's pique far better on ball than Ramos when ramos has more pass % despite playing way less passes than pique?
Lets not act as if all RAmos do is safe passes,do you watch RM games at all?
Ramos is the one carrying ball and distributing it when teams inevitably man mark Alonso.
Ramos has more key passes and chance created because of that,it will take one RM match or two to understand that.
Pique trying harder balls? dont see it often. His chance creation clearly indicate other way too.

Re: What's going on with Pique?
Pique has 86 % pas percent and 0 key passes,0 assists.
Ramos has 88% and 12 key passes and 3 assists.
But pique is far better
Actually Ramos carries a higher responsibility to create because of a less mobile midfield of us.

I don't see it often. Most of the time Xavi/Iniesta/Busquets pick the ball up from deep.

Pique long ball attempted-75/95
Ramos-130/175
thats almost twice more attempted
Ramos carries a lot responsibility on the ball than any of Barca CBs.
Who is distributing the ball when teams man mark alonso,Lass?
To clear things,Ramos has even more Key passes than Busquets and is 2nd best distributor after Alonso in Madrid back 6.

Re: What's going on with Pique?
Pique tries harder balls is absolute rubbish.
I don't get that at all.
Basically all of Pique's long balls are wide to a withdrawn player who has no pressure on him, itr suits his side's poseession oriented style.......Ramos on the other hand attempts long through balls, on which the degree of difficulty is far higher.
Not to mention how easy Barca's off the ball movement makes it for Pique to pick and pass to an open man.
That being said , Ramos percentages are not higher.........at least I doubt they are.....if they were i'd be suprised and it wouldn't take it too seriously.Ramos will always ave lower percentages, he tries more difficult, sometimes more aimless and senseless passes than Pique ever will...and I love him for it, percentages aren't everything.........having a CB who can legitimately make Carrick like passes is a quality I rate highly not something that adds to our game, it would be pessimistic to look at it as simply another way to lose possession.Nonetheless I don't blame Pique for his style either as it's perfectly suited to his team's style...no problems.

My point about Keita was, he plays less passes per game than Busquets because he isnt trusted with the ball like Busquets is, doesnt drop deep like Busquets does. Keita has a better pass % but thats because when he is given the ball its not in tight situations like when its given to Busquets becaue everyone on the team knows he cant get out of them like Busquets can. Keita will be given the ball when he got time and space to make an easy pass, Busquets will be given the ball under pressure and in difficult situations. Therefore he will have a lower pass % but is clearly the better passer.
The point im trying to make is % of passes and passes per game can only take you so far, you have to look closer.
As for Pique, he doesnt. You gave me "long ball" stats, which is why I said a reason for that would be Cristiano and Benz vs Messi and Sanchez. But long pass is different. Long passes is what Pique does better than Ramos, that I have no doubt.

Your not watching the game then rag, I cant debate with you if your not seeing the obvious. Pique makes clipped passes into the midfield, Ramos cant do those balls like Pique can.
Those balls are much harder to long balls out to the wings, dont tell me the degree of difficulty is higher. Thats bullocks.

Re: What's going on with Pique?
The percentages are not even that different.
Ramos has 130/175
and if you scale up Pique's accuracy (assuming he maintains consistent accuracy) then Pique has
135/175

Whats that EP?
Long passes? Long balls?
Though to be honest, neither really mean anything because as I already explained my opinion on stats and passing.

Re: What's going on with Pique?
Pique's lobs into midfield are difficult...but from what I've seen at least ....not just this season but in the last 3 years....Pique's basic got to long ball is that skied crossfield dink to Iniesta or whoever's out there on the left completely open and unmarked. It's a simple ball......don't see how it's complicated at all, and he misplaces it a tad too much to call him elite at it.
The through ball's to wingers are probably less difficult and subtle than Pique's chipped ball's into midfield....but Pique also put guys under immese pressure when he tries those.Anyway, even Ramos tries daggers into Cristiano and Benz and higgy along the park which are quite similar. His diagonals between the fullback and the centreback are at the very least the same degree of difficulty.

Re: What's going on with Pique?
Long passes.
Stats tell only one side of the story I agree, but even then imo it favours Ramos since as I mentioned before I believe he attempts much harder passes from what I have seen so far from both teams.

Re: What's going on with Pique?
As I said, he does alot of balls into the midfield. Balls Ramos doesnt even attempt. When pressured and there isnt a short pass on, you still seldom see him launch it, instead he tries middle distance balls into the feet of players with their back to goal.
Contrast Ramos when we pressured him and all he came up with was half a dozen long 50-50 balls to Cristiano.
Its like night and day.
Its all very good, Ramos is nice without pressure, but when pressed the difference is obvious.
I dont really have much more to add to be honest, I think its damn obvious who is better on the ball and who is the better passer.

That's more about composure than passing ability....we had this already...not going back into it lol....my mind is still in the same place.I like hollywod passes more than simple ones...just me, I'll always appreciate them more, never gonna escape it lol
