Re: AIFF | Indian National Team |
i just read on wiki that Chopra can't play for India until he gets a Indian passport, he tried getting one 2 years ago to play in the AFC, and was named in the indian squad aganist qatar a while back....
Despite being born in England, Chopra is eligible to play for India through his father. In November 2010, Chopra entered into talks over acquiring an Indian passport in order to represent India in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup. Ultimately, he was not allowed to play in the tournament, but he hoped to play for India at a later date. He was named in the Indian squad that was to face Qatar in a friendly in July 2011. However, without an Indian passport he was not on the team, and the Indian's

Ref was terrible. Disallowed a legit penalty that would have made it 3-1 then added 12678 minutes of extra time

IMO problems are clear
1. Lack of proper football. The football available here weights twice the weight of original football. Unless you play in I League you are barely going to see a 'real' quality football.
2.Lack of training with the boots. 99 % plays with barefoot so even if you buy a pair of boots you are never going to use it ( ) my case.
3. Lack of lawn grounds. India doesnt have large lawn grounds, mainly because of the geography. Football played on normal bare grounds are completely different.

Disagree with all 3.
Proper football isnt exactly an issue.
99% playing barefoot is just wrong.
There is a lot of talent in this country, Its just there is so little money in football that players after their career have to start a job based on the basic degree they earned and there's no point of that.
Half of the kids that show promise end becoming regular people with regular jobs because their parents convince them that it's of no use, Which is actually true.
What's the point that you show promise, You make it to a stage not the highest one and still don't earn enough. At the end of the day you'll struggle after football for a job.
Rest of the talent that actually make it are mostly the people who face hardships in life when it comes to money and education. Sports is the only thing they are good at and that's the best way to sustain themselves.
That's exactly why we are made fun of by the Rest of the world. These scrubs dont the conditions that a young talent has to play in, The actual national talent pool of the country for all sports except cricket is probably great, But we don't have anything to show for it as none of them takes sports as a career in this country seriously.
Grounds? meh half of these unnecessary crickets grounds can be converted to football ones.

Re: AIFF | Indian National Team |
What you said is true, there is serious lack of reward for those who take football as profession. Yet it doesnt mean the 3 points i said are not there.
Most kerala State team members have said that the ball used in professional league's are so different to the one used in lower league's its unbelievable.
Even in lower leagues ( I play in one ) , the big fat CB always takes the goal kick because no goal keeper can kick that 700 gram football beyond the center of the field.
How can you say lack of proper training with the boots are not a problem ? it is the most fundamental problem i have seen in all there years. There are lot of talents yet since they dont play with a boot they are not gona make it to pro level.
There are lack of lawn grounds...infact all the grounds built for football are being converted to cricket grounds ...not the other way.

Re: AIFF | Indian National Team |
There are decent boots available for less than 500rs. And they are good enough. That's how i lasted when i just started the game. If talents can't afford that then its a completely different matter.
The big fat CB happens most places, Its norm in every country. You want to lose the ball through a goal kick that can't reach the half line right? I've played district twice and witnessed a few states matches as part of my district training. It happened in that as well.
And tbh each of my school team players would have got into the state team easily. Which confirms the problems my previous post addressed.
