Well, who would have thought that Albiol would fail in Madrid and Pique to one of the best cbs. Back then when it was 2009, would be a bit idiotic to say otherwise. I mean Raul Albiol was a class in Valencia and Pique struggled to get playing time in Utd. Iirc Albiol did pretty good with his first season in Madrid tho.

Dont forget positioning. Anyway Albiol is bad but he has had some good moments too, I remember he had a good game against barca in Supercup.

Badstuber has great marking, positioning and technique, he's decent enough at tackling. What he lacks is pace and maybe a bit better judgement, but he's pretty good in that department for a 22yo - I prefer Boateng, but Badstuber is certainly not a bad defender.

Raul Albiol really really wasn't this bad at Valencia. Maybe the shift in expectations (from whatever is Valencia's to the delusional madness of Real Madrid) caused a serious dent in his confidence and defending capabilities.

Also, it is really f-ing tough to be a Real Madrid centre back. How Hierro and Sanchis did it so well for so long is testament of how good they really were...

Albiol just needs to play consistently. When he doesn't this is what happens.

Albiol used to be not a decent, but I will as far to say a good CB when he was at Valencia. He shutted Eto'o very well in some occasions.

being a central defender in madrid is really bad, your fullbacks frequently go on attacking forays, wingers are god knows where and you can only do so much.

Are you kidding me, Badstuber has great making and positioning. Technique yeah I agree for a CB, his technique is reasonable. But marking and Positioning are shit.

You just have to look back to this matches.

To begin with this is the worst defensive display I've seen in my life.

If he starts then he's gonna get dropped by Loew after one match,(like in the world cup) that's if he even start because it's not yet confirmed.

Bayern board will keep making the-same mistake until then get feed up of him like in the case of lell, ottl and Demichelis. Bayern board are quite patience with youngstars

The Albiol of Valencia, this is no comparison. Badstuber is so slow and clumsy it hurts. Albiol at least used to be competant and dependable.

At Valencia, he was the best centerback not at Barca or Madrid.

The current version, I dont know, they both lose. I have no idea what happened to him.
