Who do you think was the best winger of 2011?
Re: Goallegacy's best Wingers of 2011
This is stupid, messi isn't a winger and no he wouldn't be better on the wing in this formation, he would be best as AM or ST, why not rename the poll to Real Madrid Fanboy xi of 2011

messi is not a winger, any votes for messi will just mean the person doesn't know his positions.

Can someone tell me why Nani is not in the list considering he WAS the best winger from the category?

TBH Nani was one of the ones I was going to write down, but he was not better than Di Maria, Sanchez or Neymar and as I said putting any more options is just superflous so Im sorry I guess.
But let me not distract you from the 'He hates England, Spanish bias, etc'.

More important to Manchester Utd´s success.
Also, better end product for my take and at times carried Man Utd. Cant say Di Maria did that.

Re: Goallegacy's best Wingers of 2011
Well apart from Vs Barca....which is a special circumstance (a circumstance in which Nani himself had 0 end product himself) I'd say Di Maria has shown fantastic end product.
The more crucial to their success argument is certainly where a distinction can be made.
Di Maria's never carried Madrid per say but I don't think nani's ever really carried United.Sure at times he's been their best player but to say he carried them is strong inflation of his actual exploits.
O and I think Di Maria does alot more workk than Nani defensively.

These polls are terrible, there are always 3-4 missing options that have every right to be there.

Re: Goallegacy's best Wingers of 2011
I didnt say Di Maria had bad end product, I just feel Nani slightly more so.
I think Nani did carry them, not RVP, Messi, Cristiano like at times..but there were games he influenced hugely and you got the impression that without him they would of dropped points.
Again, I didnt get that impression with Di Maria.

That's fair...I don't watch Nani as much as I watch Di Maria so....it could be a fair point.
Well,If you see it like that.....then I think you're wrong. There were many time during both last season and this season where, Di Maria had a very marked influence. He scored decisive goals....such as the one against Real Sociedad or Zagreb.....and numerous times has provided decisive assists without which we could've dropped points.
I also think he contributed significantly to defence.....so who knows....maybe he even saved us a few points on that end.
I'm certainly not saying he carried the team....but if you're saying that Nani winning united a few points by himself is carrying the team then I don't think there's much of a disparity there.
The difference is.....If Di Maria didn't do it...maybe someone else would have.....likely even....Utd may not have that luxury but that's no reason to judge their exploits differently.

Re: Goallegacy's best Wingers of 2011
Well, lets agree to disagree. I have the impression that yes Di Maria did great things, but his importance nor impact was on the level of Nani.
Perhaps carrying them is a bit much, but certinatly there was were games he was the best player on the pitch...quite a few games actually.
I dont think Di Maria was often the best player on the pitch either.
Indeed, Di Maria plays with Cristiano..well Nani plays with Rooney. Madrid have more tools, but I am not going to punish Nani for that.
Even when Di Maria was playing for Benfica, he didnt produce like Nani does for Man Utd.
He is a great player, but a little too much "run into cul-de-sac and force a left foot cross from a bad position because he doesnt have a right foot" for me. Nani to me is just more complete, can do more on the pitch.

Thanks bro, you know when I started out I would beg people to nominate which players they thought should be on the list, and absolutely nobody even suggested a thing, but some people still have the cheek to comment about it every single poll. If you dont like it, dont vote and dont comment.
Thanks for your input.

Re: Goallegacy's best Wingers of 2011
This could be better:
Team A, Team B
1GK
3 or 4 defenders
3 or 4 Midfielders
3 forwards
=====================
~ Example:
- Team A:
Neuer
Alves Vidic T.Silva Abidal
Xavi Busquets Iniesta
Silva Messi C.Ronaldo
- Team B:
Valdes
Lahm Pique Hummels Marcelo
Pirlo Shwein Ozil
Nani Gomez Di Maria

Re: Goallegacy's best Wingers of 2011
Why is this whole Goallegacy XI in 4-2-3-1 scheme? I prefer 4-3-3. The biggest crime so far is Iniesta not in World XI, but it's Goallegacy where Impossible is Nothing happens.

It's funny how Neymar has a bad game against Barca and now all of a sudden no one even mentions him in this thread yet he is up for world player of the year.
What's even funnier is Ronaldo and Nani had equally terrible performances against Barca and no one seems to remember that, in fact as this is a thread for over the past year and Ronaldo has had like 8 cracks at Barca and people still give him a pass yet Neymar now sucks.
For the record, I think Ronaldo is better then Neymar, but I just hope some people see how stupid it is to knock Neymar's season over one game espcially since you wont do the same for Ronaldo and he has 8 shots at it. Not to mention Neymar actually won big trophies.
