Montpellier president Louis Nicollin claims Olivier Giroud is worth at least 50 or 60 million Euros
Hulking striker Giroud has set France's top flight alight with a sensational start to the season, his 13 goals catching the eye of some of Europe's top clubs, but famously frank Montpellier president Louis Nicollin is setting a high price for his star marksman on the transfer market.
"Newcastle? They're not good enough," declared Nicollin. "Arsenal? We'll have to see if Arsène Wenger is interested, given that they have [Robin] Van Persie up front. Ten million Euros? That's too much? He's under contract for another two seasons, so someone will have to spend more than that to get his signature, 50 or 60 million Euros at least."
'A hell of a lot of money'
While this could be seen as pricing the former Tours hitman out of the market, Nicollin would be prepared to sell at the right price.
"For money like that, I'd deliver him gift-wrapped," Nicollin said of his top scorer, who also leads the club's assists charts with five goals aid on for his teammates. "That's a hell of a lot of money, and at a club like ours, we can always do with a bit extra in the bank."
