Torres Possibly For Sale
There are rumors that Torres will be for sale in January (at the bargain basement price of 20 million). This is seriously interesting. First of all, Abramovich allowing them to sell Torres is tantamount to an admission of failure. In addition, they're selling him for a greatly reduced price (60% off, if reports are to be believed). To further complicate things, Liverpool have been linked with several strikers after our well known profligacy in front of goal this season.
That sets the stage for the question that I'm sure we are all asking ourselves: could we see Torres in a red Liverpool shirt again?
Before the lashings come, I want to say that I believe it to be far fetched and nowhere did I say that I thought it was a good idea. However, you have to admit that the prospect is intriguing. Upon the realization that Torres wanted to move, I remember someone suggesting that he was only doing it to raise funds for LFC and screw the Chavs at the same time. An insurgency, if you will. Whether he meant to or not, that appears to be precisely what he did... but I digress.
So, here are the questions (all hypothetical, of course):
Can you see Liverpool making a move for him?
Do you think it would be a good move / solve our problems?
Would he operate within Liverpool's current style of play better than he does as part of Chelsea's attack?
Could you forgive him for what he did last January?
Would you take the Number 9 shirt from Carroll? ( Just for funsies.)

Re: Torres Possibly For Sale
He's not coming back with Kenny in charge.
That we robbed Chelsea and he's coming back was made up from me and either Irish or newjack. Nothing true in that.

Yes
Could you forgive him for what he did last January?
-Id forgive him........tentatively........the situation last year was bad and ideally you expect players to stick by you like for eg Shearer......but I don't expect everyone to be perfect....he had alot of reasons to leave.....I think he still loves Liverpool.
Would you take the Number 9 shirt from Carroll?
-Icould care less what number he wears on his back
Edit: Robbie Fowler left us for Leeds

Re: Torres Possibly For Sale
These reports are bogus anyway.
Point is, even if he came back for free I would not want him simply because I don't want players who deceive the badge and lie to the fans. I want someone who knows the shirt he wears and honors it day after day and see's what HE can do for the club and not the other way around.
Can you see Liverpool making a move for him? Nopes
Do you think it would be a good move / solve our problems? Temporarily but a very arbitrary way of doing it
Would he operate within Liverpool's current style of play better than he does as part of Chelsea's attack? Yes, this I agree with
Could you forgive him for what he did last January? Nope
Would you take the Number 9 shirt from Carroll? Heck no

Well Sepi,
He is a traitor. And to accept him back would show how weak we are. Torres stabbed us in the back. Im not letting him in my heart again.
And i don't see Dalglish going for him. The Club is greater than the players bar Gerrard.

Sometimes pride comes second. My main issue isn't that he ruined us when we needed him most..it's that I am sure him, and Carroll are both much better players than shown since their transfers.
Rush went and cameback
Fowler went and cameback
Owen went and almost cameback
Sometimes you have to make up with your ex, even if she cheated on you...because she understood you better than anyone else when you were together.
It will mean we've bought Carroll for 5M net, which will lift the pressure from him, and make it easier for him to deliver

Re: Torres Possibly For Sale
Not going to happen.
Have some people short memories. He shit on us fans and the club the way he left. He didnt leave to join Madrid, Barca Bayern etc. He left to join Chelsea. *bleep* Chelsea.
He also showed a total lack of respect for Kenny and I wouldnt want him back here ever.
Ill be brutally honest here. I might be as fickle as the next fan if we were talking about a striker who was playing well. But this isnt RVP or Aguero. Its not even Demba Ba. This is Fernando "cant hit an open net" Torres.
@ragbirjosh This is a total different situation to GOD

Well, Rush or Fowler did'nt ditch us and run away in January with 24 hours to go tbh.
And to me its unfair that we use Rush's name with Torres. Rush was legend. Torres will never be even near to him IMO.
I don't know, And Carroll to leave his no9 for Torres .. I don't think so..
This topic is full of emotions, anger and confusions. That's why i want him to move back to Spain and everyone will be satisfied.

Re: Torres Possibly For Sale
I see we've let some bad form throw off what we all know about this guy.We all watched the game against United, somewhere inside there is the Real Fernando Torres and that Fernando Torres is worth alot more than 20 million pounds.
Essentially we're making a 30 million dollar profit on season long transfer if we do it...........for a quality player.............the only problem I see is the betrayal thing and that's not an issue for me.It may be for some of you guys I suppose.
I agree with Sepi.

The whole the real Torres this and that bullshit needs to stop.
He betrayed us. Fine, get even if you can get over that, he is shit and would be a waste of money.
Plenty of other strikers out there who could be good signings.

Well I suppose the waste of money part depends on how much he costs. If a club signed him for 10-15m it could be good business but if your talking 25m then this is a waste.
More importantly he has high wage demands. Now if you are paying him high wages to miss open goals, sulk, and generally be useless, then it would be a waste.
Anyway it wont happen so the discussion is a waste of time really.

Re: Torres Possibly For Sale
I'd personally take him back in a heartbeat......I've come to terms with him leaving us and I believe as a result it has made us a better team. I think he'll fit in perfectly with our system, and i really think he'll flourish under Kenny's tactics and become his old self. As for the number thing, i don't care what he wears on the back of his shirt just as long as he still has love for the badge and the club.
BUT.....if we can get Godolski for less money than El nino than by all means, Torres can go and f*ck himself....BRING IN PRINCE POLDI
