If you are then the only thing that Özil is better than Iniesta at age 22 is final pass and freekick. Everything else Iniesta at 22 > Özil at 22, especially everything that has to do with techique.

And Iniesta was already a big game player at that age, iirc Iniesta was motm against Milan(who were a great team then) in the CL semi-final at san siro and when he came in on the final against Arsenal he, with larsson, completly turned around the game..

Ozil was beasting with Germany in WC and was great last season.Havent been on top form with madrid this year but anyway Iniesta

come on mate... iniesta at 22 wasn't first team material. not irreplaceable at least. Oezil is crucial to Madrid and already one of the 3 best German players.

The only reason for that was that we had better players than either özil and iniesta at the time. I have no doubt that if iniesta at age 23 would have played for this real madrid and özil would have played for barca, iniesta would have been just as important as özil is for this real madrid now while özil would be on our bench....

And iniesta at age 22-23 impact was so good that he, with larsson, was able turn around the CL final to our favour.

As I said, the only attribute that I rate özil better than iniesta is his final passing and freekick..

Harhar, while true that Barca had better players than Iniesta and Oezil at that time (Deco), is this the case with Spanish NT too?
I don’t think Iniesta was as an impact player then as Oezil is now. He grow to become something much more though and it remains to be seen if Oezil will match him

But the thing is, as we all barca fans know, Iniesta was hugely underrated for a very very long time. But he was still quality, just look at this game against Milan when they were without a doubt one of the best sides in the world or just look at his impact against arsenal and the video that I posted(although I do know that you can make bramble look better than zidane with youtube clips )..

It's true that Iniesta wasn't/isn't a impact player, but he could still impact the result. Like the example that I gave earlier against Arsenal CL final. We were losing, Iniesta comes in and makes the throughball to Larsson who inturn fliks it to Eto'o for the first goal being generally very dangerous the entire game.

While I do agree that as far as impact players goes, Özil>Iniesta but as a player Iniesta>Özil.

For me Iniesta now IS an impact player, and actually is the major reason Inter knocked us out on 2009-2010.
He has improved vastly. No matter how great he was in the past he was nowhere near his current levels. However I agree he was underrated by many for a long period

I was only talking about Iniesta as a impact player then. He sure has improve now.
