Re: MMA/UFC Thread
Nah the fight will take place as it was initially planned
Question is who will replace RDA. Cerrone most likely as Mole said

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
I'd rather see Pettis but most likely Diaz or Cerrone
I think Mcgregor only beats Diaz out of those three personally

While i expect McGregor to win i'm just happy the " replacement " isn't a scrub.

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
well it's the 'easiest' fight McGregor could have gotten so I'm underwhelmed. Not a knock on him or anything, just not that excited to watch it now.

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
yeah, i dont think its so easy to say its the easiest match up for Conor
It really depends on style of the fighter
Though if Mcgregor lands his lefty on the chin then no opponent is a tough match up

At a higher weight class we don't know how effective that will be though, one of the reasons it works so well at 145 is because he's so much bigger than all of his opponents.

LMAO Nate
'Are you gonna do the standing up or focus on your BJJ' (something of that mold)

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
Nate Diaz got bumped up to 5th in the UFC rankings just so when Mcgregor beats him UFC can say he beat a top 5 opponent
Cerrone also got dropped down a bunch even though he fought and beat someone in a higher division..convenient excuse for when mcgregor's asked why he didn't take the cerrone fight over diaz
hope diaz derails the mcgregor train because he has the most toxic fanbase online but it's highly unlikely especially on a weeks notice

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
Their fanbase are Pacquaioesque lol, just full of casuals who don't know *bleep* all.
It's a shame as I like Connor who is almost WWE like in his delivery pre fight lol. Even if this I'm different to everyone else because of my movement BS has to stop lol.

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
same
i enjoy his antics and he's an exciting fighter but good lord dat fanbase
him losing would curb a good 90% of it and probably wouldn't impact why i like him as a fighter all that much
i have a friend whose first mma event ever was mcgregor vs aldo (he became a fan of conor's because of his pre fight antics) and hasn't seen any of his other fights
tried arguing conor's all about precision and timing and how it beats power so he could beat some of the heavyweight/LHW top 5
(literally just repeating what conor said verbatim after knocking out aldo)
i watched diaz's last fight but haven't seen him in a while prior to that, hasn't been super active the last few years and has only really lost to elite competition but i just don't like his odds, he said he will probably only have a 3 day camp
if mcgregor wins without being banged up i see him fighting for the WW title at UFC 200

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
yep Cerrone was quite right in saying the C in UFC stands for Conor tbh
It's hard not to like Mcgregor though, he's hilarious and makes a great warm up to the fight at every level; in the talk, in the training etc
Diana gets into his ass way too much nonetheless tbf

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
I'm glad Diaz get got the fight over Cerrone. Cerrone is nothing more than a gatekeeper.
I think McGregor would get smoked by the upper echelon welterweights, but he has balls for fighting there.

McG got me back in to casual UFC watching purely because of his attitude era promo's

So what's the difference between what Conor does and what Diaz does (in terms of trash talking)

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
card's on at a good time tonight since it's in the UK. Wonder if Bisping can finally beat an elite fighter. Wonder if Silva will show he even still is one.

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
That's nearly every Silva fight. I love the guy, but I don't like his antics at times. That being said, what did everyone thing about the result? I thought the judges got the result wrong and feel part of that had to do with how Silva acted in the octagon.

Yeah, amazing card especially the second half. The 2nd Lawler-MacDonald fight was one of the best fights ever.
Re: MMA/UFC Thread
The second half!?!? What about the first half - as good as those last fights were, I don't think there's anything better than a jumping/flying knee knockout. Especially
Almeida since it was a shot and goodnight - much respect to him for not even going after homeboy once he hit the ground.

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
I'm talking about the whole card. The last fight of the prelims, Matt Brown(why was he fighting in prelims i know he lost back to back but still) got lit up a couple times right away by Means until he got him in a guillotine.
