Google his name and count how many times Wenger's face shows up under images.
I was going to mention Samper but he's so young that like Deulefou and Grimaldo among others its really hard to determine how good they can be.
True I gave up being too critical on youngsters.
At first I used to think Messi would amount to nothing...

Re: The heir to Pirlo
idk if it's the hair or their similarity in dribbling but David silva reminds me so much of Pirlo. If he were played in a regista role I'd bet he'd be awesome there as well

Barring any more injury set backs, poli should play against fiorentina this weekend. Ive been waiting since the start of the season to watch him. Let's hope for inter and Italia's sake, that he starts off on the right foot

Re: The heir to Pirlo
TBH though there are no young Regista's the role dictates that you need to have some solid game time behind you... Sahin is lucky in that he's been playing senior football since he was 16-17 so he has been able to gather the game time needed. Even then though I don't see him peaking for a good few years, same with the rest of the talents.
I think Borja Valero is a good example of this, not to say he's in the same level but he never showed anything more than flashes at Castilla but once he got game time in and was allowed to expand his vision and anticipation he's really stepped up.

But have anyone make pass like to Grosso in 2006 WC Italy-Germany? No one. We are so stupid to sell Pirlo. Now we miss just this player.

Re: The heir to Pirlo
Toni Kroos has the perfect skillset to become a regista. He seems to prefer playing farther up the pitch, though, but he pulls off the regista role beautifully whenever called upon.

Re: The heir to Pirlo
Verratti is good, probably gunna be amazing one day, but he doesn't play as a regista now. More of an attacking mid I would say and probably better suited to that role. It's difficult to find young registas's, it's a role you have to grow into and earn through solid playing time.
I'm probably jumping the gun a bit here, but Federico Viviani should make an appearance against Juventus on Monday, given the MANY injuries and suspensions. Keep an eye on him; 19 years old, aggressive, has good dribbling skills and a good shot. Had a good summer playing with the first team, despite crumbling a bit under the pressure of the Mestalla. Touted as our next De Rossi/Di Biagio, very capable and has the required skills to play as a regista.

Just like I thought. He is what you call a modern day attacking midfielder.ErPupone wrote:Verratti is good, probably gunna be amazing one day, but he doesn't play as a regista now.
