Good god, this is getting really ridiculous. No one is saying it was intentional, but it was clearly dangerous play out of frustration, which Rooney has a fraking history on. He was not, and never will be a role model in football, don't act like he is the second coming of Christ for life's sake.

He should have been given a yellow card though!

The way i see it, Rooney's second swipe started when the ball was still in between Colo's legs.

It is still quite stupid to try to get the ball like that, but some people are like that. I dont see it as frustration, but he clearly was not thinking. He just wanted the ball.

I tried to give Rooney the benefit of the doubt since frusteration clouds your judgment, but he might just be really stupid to try and get the ball that way.

As a Newcastle fan I honestly can't see anything wrong with it. He didn't hurt Colo (probably because nobody can hurt Colo) and was battling for the ball. The day when people get sent off for something like this is the day football turns into a non-contact sport. (Which it already is doing, what with the 2 footed challenge = red even if no contact is made bs).
