Pearce is an idiot if he was'nt already officially confirmed as one !

England Under 21 head coach Stuart Pearce believes clubs should rest their players so they are not tired for summer international tournaments.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere and Liverpool striker Andy Carroll were both left out of Pearce's squad for the European Under 21 Championship.

Wilshere, who played 49 games for the Gunners last season, was thought to be close to burn-out while Carroll was struggling for fitness.

Pearce feels the solution is for clubs to be more considerate to the national sides.


He told Sky Sports News: "We are going to have to look at doing something radically different to what we are doing.

Compromise

"Say, if Jack Wilshere is very, very tired, leave him out for a month at his club so he is fresh for the summer.

"Radical, yes, but that might help the national side.

"It would be very difficult to get a club to do that, there has to be a compromise, I understand that.

"But across the board, the Spanish do it, the Germans do it, they are all here on bulk.

"We are probably the one nation out of the eight that is here at the moment with players that have got first-team experience, and we have more missing out of all of those.

"Those statistics tell you something."
